| BF Midnight Sun aresol spray wax BLACKFIRE Midnight Sun Spray Wax, spray car wax, aerosol wax
So I was one of the lucky winners in the give away a couple weeks ago and have finally gotten around to trying this stuff out. I should say I'm a regular user of BF Crystal Seal as well as the wet diamond all paint protection and couldn't be happier.
This past weekend my car sat over the holiday weekend, outside ofcoarse and it was looking a little worse for wear. I washed the car using the BF rinseless wash sample given to me with my prize (thanks Nick!) and was ready to go. Speaking of the BF rinseless wash, well I like it, nice gloss afterwards and I will say its "sticky" if that makes sense to you guys out there. I guess what I mean is that when you wipe it on to the car it doesn't run off as easy, it "sticks" more. Anyways, I did this yesterday morning, the temps were between the 65-75 that is recommended by BF for best results. It says to spray the product on, let it sit for 5-15 minutes and then wipe off. I pretended I was spray painting my car, single pass and moving along. I actually ran out of the product leaving only the d/s of the roof and a part of my hatch panel, no biggie. Once I was done applying it I looked at the car and it looked like I had matte paint, weird looking as its drying. While I was waiting, I decided to try out another BF product that I bought, their tire gel and let me tell you this.....GREAT PRODUCT This stuff gives the tires a nice sheen and if you apply a second coat, well, you get a bit more shine!
Now onto the removal.......maybe its just me, but I had to use 2 MF towels to remove it, it didn't come off all that easy. The temps were right and I didn't over apply it, I did it just like the directions said. The first towel basically removed the top layer and spread it out a bit and then I came through with the 2nd towel and that did the trick. Now I will say this though, since this is the first time I've applied caranuba to the CR-Z it gave the paint more depth compared to the Klasse/Zaino/Black Fire i've been using but that's to be expected as caranuba is completely different. Its a more natrual look, I like how it finished for sure! I think I've bee VERY spoiled with the ease of use with Klasse AIO-SG/Zaino Z-5 pro-CS/Black Fire WD/CS but maybe I did something wrong. If you look at the little video in the link it looks like your supposed to spray it on and wipe it in but the directions say to spray it on and let it haze and then remove, even asked Nick about it and he said the latter.
Overall I couldn't argue with the results, they speak for themselves:
Overall look, I'm very proud of the finish on the car!
Right here you see the BF Total Eclipse tire gel as well as the reflection of the fender
*DICLAIMER*
I'm not responsible for the WHIPLASH that Black Fire has created, look at the car at your own risk
So now I'm going to listen to what those who've used this product say, I don't know but maybe I did something wrong with the application but I know this, either way, when I need to get some more caranuba wax, I will be buying BF for sure!

I hope you put it on too heavy. That is not a very big car and that fact that you were not able to finish it is not a good sign. Plus, at $16 bucks a can, it is not very economical.

I just made sure I had complete coverage on each panel, nothing more, nothing less. The little clip is confusing on their site, so if anything, this post will clear up some issues if I did infact do something wrong, don't want it to sound like i'm bashing BF here, nothing could be further from the truth because like I said, the results were really stunning, I guess I forgot what a good caranuba can do

Directions as found on Autopia
Directions: Shake can well. Wash and dry vehicle thoroughly. Spray BLACKFIRE Midnight Sun Spray Wax on to a section of paint and spread if necessary with a soft microfiber or foam applicator. Allow 5-15 minutes for the product to haze and wipe off with a clean, soft microfiber towel. Do not apply in direct sunlight to hot surfaces or on extremely cold days.
I'm sure you way over applied it. One can should do several cars not come up short on a small car. The directions as printed are very confusing at best. I'm thinking it should read, spray, spread out to a thin coat, let dry, buff.
IMO If they don't get this fixed it will kill the product.

Car looks great!
Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed review on Blackfire Midnight Sun Spray Wax. When applied thin, one can will easily do 3-4 cars, at the minimum. It sounds like you applied it too thick and as a result of that, it wasn't as easy to wipe off as it should have been. Like other Blackfire car care products, less is more.
Thanks again for the review. |

Good find Buckskin but how in the heck could the MFG (Black Fire) not have these very directions on their own can?, hmmm. I'm not blaming AG either, Nick inparticular whom I dropped a PM to but rather BF themselves, I mean the directions found at Autopia seem to make more sense to me for sure. I'm not really mad or anything as I won this can but after seeing the results, I would've liked to have gotten 3-4 wax jobs out of it instead of wasting the entire can, wasting a great detailing product is a sin in my book
Hopefully this serves as a PSA to those looking to buy this product and saves people some grief, not to mention bad pub as not everyone is as forgiving when getting to their keyboards.

The funny thing is Blackfire is a house brand for PBMG owners of Autopia and Autogeek. I think they should get this fixed on their label and web page ASAP! Or there will be tons of unhappy customers.

I actually wouldn't mind another can of this product so I can get more than one wax job out of it....any chance of this Nick
Either way, the confusing or wrong directions will bring this to light and keep others from making the same mistake and being upset about the product, it really, really produces the WHIPLASH like they say

It's kind of like saying if AG sent me a free tub of Fuzion, and I used it all in 1-2 uses, it's kind of reaching to ask AG to send me another tub because I misused it? (by the way, I am not referring to price, referring to the scenario)
