Review: 1Z Einszett Exclusiv Gloss Shampoo

Review: 1Z Einszett Exclusiv Gloss Shampoo, car wash soap, auto wash, car shampoo, foam gun shampoo

Introduction
Thank you for Corey for providing the review format and Mike M. for providing
the shampoo. This is the first time for me to do a product review so be easy on
me lol.

Recently I have a nice conversation with Mike of 1Z-USA after posting the
http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/.../45059-shampoo-
dilution-ratios-table.html . He is such an amazing guy, and during our
conversation he told me about some background of the 2 1Z shampoos. (Refer to
Q&A section for details.)

Later I asked "how about you send me a sample of the 2 shampoos and I do a
review for you?" and soon after 2 bottles of shampoo show up.

Last wax section: March 2011 with Sonax Nano 1 Paint Sealant.

Here are the photos I took during the wash process.
There will be my conclusion and Q&A section with Mike M. of 1Z-USA afterwards.

The car is quite dirty to start with. It has not been washed by me for a month. Dried water spots on windscreen:

Dirt on roof:

Start off with rinsing the buckets and Grid Guards first.

Ta-da! Here is the shampoo to be tested. The directions does not mention about
shake the product well so I up side down it gently a few times and believe it is
enough.

About 26ml of soap is needed so I used a measuring cup to get the right amount.

Pour the soap into a bucket filled with water. You want to get a bucket of
slippy water to get the most from your quality shampoo not full of dry suds so
you add shampoo to water.

Gently mix the soap in bucket.

I dip a pH test paper into the wash bucket to measure the pH. It is pH 7.0
which means the wash solution is perfectly neutral.

While I have no special preference on suds, I must note that further agitation by
hand (no water jet) gave me rich, thick, white suds that a lot of people love.

Shampoo on paint.

For those who love suds, this is how my wash and rinse bucket look after I
finished: (sorry I took the Grit Guards out already...)

Tough Suds!

Results:
After flood rinse.

Windscreen after flood rinse.

Look at the reflections. The paint is so glossy!

I used 1 Water Magnet to dry the car. By the time I finished the towel is not
even damp. Just one wipe give you mirror like glass:

Streak free glass look at the reflections!

This is the clearest windows I have ever seen on this car.

It was raining so I did not drive the car out...
Sorry for that.

Pros:
1. Clean well.
2. Gloss
3. Economical
4. Smell.

Cons:
None.

???:
1. Some how I think the car look "bluer" after the wash? Might be just the car
was to dirty I dont know...
2. Lubricity is average. On par with other quality shampoos but there are
slicker shampoo out there. While no scratches is induced by washing with 1Z
shampoo, one may add some addictives in wash bucket to boost slickness.
3. Sheeting for easy rinsing. I like this property but some people may want to
see beautiful water beading instead.

Conclusion:
This is a very nice car wash shampoo. It cleans well. The gloss it leaves
behind is amazing. The shampoo seems to sheet water off well I could get streak
and spot free on glass even before drying which prevents water spotting. Slickness is good to give you a safe wash, but not the best. To conclude, I like to wash car with this shampoo. I will definitely recommend this.

Score: 9/10

Q&A with Mike:
1. 1Z Einszett currently offers 2 car wash shampoos at the same price point.
What is the difference between them? In other words, how should the end user
choose between the 2 products?
Perls Shampoo which was more advanced than Exclusiv which is a traditional
shampoo that relies on alkalines (bases). Perls Shampoo is pH neutral so it
doesn't rely as much on alkaline. This makes it possible to have less residue
and require less alkaline. Perls can also be used as a no rinse wash. Most
importantly, Perls Shampoo contains polymer wax which bonds to the car surface
when applied. This leaves a protective finish that lasts for a few weeks.
Perls Shampoo outsold Exclusiv 3:1 so we decided to discontinue Exclusiv while
it continued to sell in Europe. But in the past year we've been getting more
requests from customers who used to use Exclusiv to bring the product back. So
it's now available. Exclusiv is twice as concentrated as Perls so a little goes
a long way. While it doesn't have the gloss factor and protective properties
like Perls, it cleans very well and suds up a lot more (important to many users
who like to use foam guns or who just like the feel of suds).
In the brief time both shampoos were available, many customers liked to use
Perls Shampoo once a month and use Exclusiv Gloss Shampoo as their regular
shampoo. This is always a good option since Exclusiv is a more cost effective
alternative.
2. What is the most important criteria that the 1Z Einszett research team were
looking for when making these 2 shampoos?
It's important to note that both shampoos are very effective at cleaning
without harming wax finishes. In making any product, einszett chemists are
always strive to strike the best balance of performance, results, and value. So
whichever shampoo is chosen, it's a good choice for someone concerned about
using a quality wash that cleans effectively, doesn't harm wax finishes, doesn't
leave a soap residue, doesn't spot, and provides optimum gloss. Both shampoos
are also easy on the consumer as far as not containing harsh chemicals that can
irritate those with skin sensitivities. Both are also highly biodegradable,
formulated to have the least amount of impact on the environment (since water-
runoff is a big concern).
[There is one thing that really impress me is that it is my first time to see
the manufacturer actually remind you to recycle the empty container. This makes
me believe that they are a company with social responsibility.]

3. What tool(s) do you like to wash the car with, a foam mitt, a foam sponge, a
MF mitt, a MF chenille mitt, a wool mitt, or a MF towel?
As far as wash tools, there is no preference. I personally use a microfiber
wash mitt but we understand customers will use a wide variety of washing tools.
4. You mentioned that "Perls can also be used as a no rinse wash." I own so many
car wash soaps but this is a breaking news to me. A 2 bucket wash soap used as
a no rinse! What is the dilution ratio and method of using the Perls as a no
rinse wash?
Typically, we suggest mixing 1 oz (Perls) with 1-2 liters of water. Adjust as
necessary depending on your water. If you are using distilled water, you can use
even less. Apply with a spray bottle on to paint finish. The key is to take a
folded microfiber towel and start from the bottom of a panel to the top and then
work your way down making sure to keep any dirt from making contact with the
cleaned surface. Let's say you're working on a door panel. First, spray the
panel well with solution. Then starting at the top of the door panel, wipe
across the panel. When you get to the end of the panel, go down a little then
work your way across the opposite direction. Doing this until you get to the
bottom of the panel. Just like I have in my very bad diagram below giving you an
idea:
-------------------->|
<--------------------
|-------------------->
Again, by following this pattern, you are certain that once you cleaned an area,
you will not go over it again with the contaminated towel.
I hope you enjoy reading my review.
Questions and comments welcomed!

Thanks for the very thorough review.

You made some interesting comments about the glass cleaning. I have used 1z Perls and found it would streak on glass if not wiped well after drying. The explanation provided by 1z explains a lot. I always thought 1z was more like ONR and the response proves that.

whats size are those wash buckets ?

what exact dilution did you use to get a neutral (7) ph ? I see you used 26ml's or soap, but i'm curious how much water you mixed that with ?

I ask because on the bottle it says use either 1 or 2 capfulls. thats a big difference. like saying use this much, or if you want use twice as much ! lol.

mg6045,

Thank you for your enquiry. My bucket is 5gal bucket.

However, I double checked my shampoo dilution table and found that i wrongly used the value of "# per wash" as "amount of soap needed". I have used nearly 40% more than the recommended ratio!

In fact only 19ml is needed for my bucket!
Sorry my bad! Thats a terrible mistake for doing a review!

I will definitely do the test again next weekend.

why, i thought you did the right thing ? you could either use 1 or 2 capfull per 2 gallons of water. I was not sure about which diltion you were using because you used ML's instead of ounces so it confused me. all is well, I dont think you need to do the review over ! not at all. 7ml is not the end of the world, and again, its recommended from 1z that you could use either 1/3 ounce or 2/3 ounce per 2 gallons. anywhere in between is fine .

thx for the excellent review btw !

mg6045,

Thank you for the kind words.

1oz is roughly 29.5ml so 26ml is 0.88135oz.

For a bucket of 3.88gal,
If one use 19ml, it will be 1:768. (1/3oz to 2 gal)
If one use 26ml, it will be 1:676. (my dilution now)
If one use 38ml, it will be 1:384. (2/3oz to 2 gal)

Awesome review. The ph test was over the top and I have never thought of doing that. This looks like a very economical and quality shampoo. Thanks for doing such a detailed review and I enjoyed the Q&A section as it was helpful to me!

First, thank you for the very thorough and mindful review. We appreciate the time you took to put it together. I enjoyed reading it

I also have to say that I laughed when I read your description of the fragrance "...a very man type of smell like colonge?"

You are spot on! First time I smelled it (years ago) I thought "men's cologne". Has a bit of a musky scent. Not offensive but definitely unique and "European".
