    Review for Meguiars Ultimate Compound

This is a quick Review for Meguiars Ultimate Compound.

    Meguiars Ultimate Compound

Color: The compound itself is a very light beige color.

Scented: It does have a scent, I can't describe it, but its not unpleasant (at least to me) nor overpowering.

    Price: $9.99 at AG.

The test subject is a black 1996 Nissan Altima that has been sitting in the garage for 2 years accumulating dust. This is the condition that the paint was in before anything was done to it:

I used DP rinseless washed to get most of the dust off, you can kinda see how bad the condition of the paint is. I'm not sure what those white spots are, probably over spray:

Clay bared with Miguiars clay, using Megs Quick Detailer as lube. As you can see very hazy and swirled.:

I used a PC7424 with a lake country CCS orange pad. Applied four dime sized drops and had the speed at 5 1/2. Did 6 section passes at medium pressure.

    The results:

I tried to get a 50/50 shot but it was freezing cold and they didn't come out great.

The wipe off was easy, no dragging, and it got rid of most swirls except for maybe a few RIDs. Overall I'd give it a thumbs up.

First review ever so sorry for any mistakes!

I actually thought you were taking pictures of the garage light. Good job!

It's good to see more women getting involved with the forum. That hood turned out real nice, and so did your review.

I personally really like Meguiars products, they work great and you can usually find them at an AutoZone or Walmart if your in a hurry, aka running out of products mid way through a detail lol.

    Nice review and presentation!

Just a suggestion, and if the RIDS are not "finger-nail-catchers":

    Least aggressive method first (M.P.)

Try using first: ScratchX by foam-pad-hand-application to the RIDS area(s) to see if you can level the RIDS scratches to be "less noticable".

    More aggressive method

If no success is attained by that method; and, since you've already discovered the UC advantages; try the hand application method with the UC to try to level the RIDS scratches in order to make them even less noticable.

I find I can exert more passion (again M.P.) using a foam hand applicator for these isolated RIDS areas, rather than using a DA. May take several applications before you may satisfied, according to what your expectations may be, that is.

Just a suggestion...if you want to go that direction.

    Good work!

Great review on an awesome product! I love UC myself. I think it works great for such a cheap product and readily available.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd be buying UC without hesitation.

Just finished my long overdue wash on my 2005 altima. Had a few scratches where it looked like someone rubbed agaist the paint while dirty turning dust to sand paper.

Used a hand applicator and UC, used my fingers to apply pressure, rubbed back and forth 4 times and the scratches were gone.

    Great product.
