LEATHERIQUE - still the best?
I have had my bottles for many years, am now reaching the end, was wondering if there is something conquerable?

Re: LEATHERIQUE - still the best?
Standard answer #1: No product is any better than any other. Car leather isn't permeable - it's all coated and is essentially vinyl on the surface. Don't even bother. Nothing can do any better than than mild APC or water. Keeping it clean is all that's needed.(There are exceptions to the vinyl coating, but they are rare.)
Standard answer #2: People see and feel differences between products, so there must be some permeability. People swear some stuff makes it softer. There are several leather conditioners considered very good. Some are expensive.
My answer: I like mild APC and a brush when needed. I also like to use Bicks on my seats. I have many other products - some purchased here. They're all fine. I can't really say I see much difference between them. I think some of them tend to hydrate the seats better, but that could all be placebo effect.
I tried to test this last summer by taping off sections on my seats and letting several products sit. I think the Bicks section was better, but I didn't really do any controls and can't for sure it wasn't better beforehand. I also did one panel with a damp towel. It didn't look great after 4 hours (the time I left all the products on). It was darker and kind of greyish looking. The next day the panel with water looked fine.

I originally bought it because that's what the RR people use.

Should be able to find what
you're looking for, at most
equine tack & supply shops.
