Sorry but have to vent

well about a month a go i ordered the pcxp hd model Porter Cable 7424 pad kit, porter cable accessories kit, porter cable polisher kit and i know its my fault for not doing the research on the forum first but im reading alot about the pcxp bc i haven't had very good results with it. come to find out that it doesn't work very well with the 6.5inch pads that came with it. and along with that i see that for 6.5in pads you should use a 6in backing plate. Well i spent 300$ on this kit and have been kicking myself ever since bc not only did i get the 6.5in pads it came with a 5in bp. Now dont get me wrong i absolutely love autogeek and will always buy my products from them for there great customer service and fast shipping not to mention the great offers they have. But just thinking that autogeek being one of the leaders in detailing that they would bundles there kits a lil better. now the two red 5.5in pads that came with it for free are great for wax/sealant but thats the only thing im able to use it for. now i have 8 6.5inch pads that are almost worthless to me. i guess i'll be putting my order in soon for 5.5in pads. Sorry again guys for my rant and i really hope i dont make any enemies by posting this bc again i know its my fault for not doing the research before hand.

I do feel your pain. Perhaps you can trade them for something of value to you here.

Re: Sorry but have to vent

I feel your pain as well, I did exactly the same thing you did when I first started off with the PC kit. Recently I realized it was a great excuse to get the Flex 3401 to use with the larger pads and all was right in the world.

I just looked at that kit and that doesn't make much sense to put all those 6.5 pads with a 5 BP. If I were you I would call Meghan, it could be an oversight that they are not aware of. She might trade out your pads or BP, it's worth a shot. The customer service here is the tops.

Re: Sorry but have to vent

When I got mine, I had done the research, seen the posts from other members and seen the Mike Philips videos that talk about the pads.

Why does AG sell the kit with the 6" pads any way? When it is mentioned time and time again that 5.5 are probably the largest you should use.

I'd like to see the kits changed myself, even thou I have a 7434xp already (and got pads separate)

They have been doing that for a while, and I also never really understood that. A inch and a half overhang is a lot and causes more wear/tear on the pad. let alone it boggs down the machine.

Sounds like the slogan: Don't change your pads, change your polisher.

Re: Sorry but have to vent

ok well now i dont feel so bad bc im not the only one that did this. And i do agree that there customer service is the best ive ever experienced regardless of what i'm buying and from who autogeek is the best hands down. But i really didn't think there was anything to do but suck it up bc it was over about a month ago and the pads have been open. granted i've only have used an orange and white pad.

Re: Sorry but have to vent

i agree there is so much over hang and even if i just use the weight of the polisher and one hand it still wont spin i have to actually lift up on the polisher so that the pads do spin

Thought about that myself when I joined and read up on what the members, pro detailers, and Mike had to say. Seeing how its a unanimous decision that the 5.5 pads with a 5inch BP is the way to go with the PC DA for paint corrections... But then you think about it as a business side and I'm sure AG orders up quite a bit of 6inch pads for the other guys but at the sometime to move the back stock bundle them in kits.

Also when I purchased my PC it came with a 6inch BP stock.
