I assume the 6" will work fine, but don't listen to me by any means!

I have various PC's with anywhere from 2 7/8" to 6" backing plates. I have never changed a counterweight. Some will swear you need to. I "myself" have never seen the need for it. Just MHO.

You don't have to worry about edges with the edge 2000 pads. It doesn't have a backing plate or edges for that matter. heh

Thanks. I was wondering if it would cause any problems with the bearings in the PC. I'm thinking less vibrations.

Justin which CW are you working with?

Truth be known not much difference at all in using 5" or 6" counter weight.
Since day one I have been using 6" counter weight, 5" backing plate, sometimes 6" backing plate too and 6.5" pads. I find the PC to be very easy going with whatever system you put on it. Its very forgiving to us absent minded users! It's like the Polisher for DUMMIES, hey we should write one of those books!
