Help me decide

Need to enter the world of machine polishing and I am more than a little confused.

I have a new- to me boat that needs to have the gelcoat polished. (oxidized and swirled)

Also have 4 vehicles that could use some cleanng up. Nothing severe, just swirls.

Need advice on which polish might be useful for taking care of my problem. Would prefer to keed it simple and use one product if possible. Would the Menzerna 106ff be a good all purpose choice?

I also plan to buy a UDM. I am a little unsure about which pad size and type to use.

After polishing I plan to apply Klasse SG (which I already have)

Yes, the 106ff is a great polish. Get a 5" backing plate and the white and orange 5.5" low profile pads that are on sale now. You will find that the smaller pads will handle better with less vibration. Good luck on your detailing.

I'd personally buy the SIP in this case if I wanted a good all around polish from menzerna.. I'd look in a whole different direction if you plan on working in the sun though. Panel warmth can wreak havoc on the menz polishes in my experience.

For a beginner, I'd recommend picking up 2-3 or maybe even 4 different bottles from the XMT line for the same or less money. Maybe XMT 1 & 3 and a bottle of 360 for maintenance in between polishings. The whole line is user friendly and works pretty good. I agree on the pads though.. I love the 5.5" pads on the PC.

has anyone ever tried diamond cut 1500 from chemical guys? sorry i didnt know posting a link was a no no. i thought this was all about getting the best practices out there.

it looks to work really well for me and worked better than pinnicle stuff i ordered. i thought it was the pads but turns out it was the polish i used. wanted to know if anyone else uses this stuff
