PC, pads and Meguiars

Greetings

My first post and my first time using a buffer. I just received my order or PC and pads. I have a couple of issues, probably lack of knowledge.

First off the PC gets really hot, I mean really hot, a good thing the handle is on it or it would be too hot to use. I think it might be defective, not sure.

I am trying to get some water spots off a new black S2000 and the buffer - white pad with Meguiars paint cleaner just doesn't seem to do the job. Maybe I am not aggressive enough but it does not remove it completely. With strong light you can still see the outline of the spot.

I am using the white pad and I sprayed it with the XMT polishing pad conditioner and then the Meg step 1 paint cleaner. The pad absolutely drinks the cleaner and as soon as I turn on the buffer, it is gone and it looks like I am polishing with just the pad. When I put more on, it slings all over the car. This is a pain.

I looked at the videos of removing swirl marks and they used Pinnacle swirl remover and in the video it went on good and stayed creamy. Is it a better product, or at least easy to use?

So far I am not liking this, I want to get my car clean before I put the wax over it. Please Help!!

A couple of things to check and try. If your extension cord is a small gauge for its length the PC can run hotter (they run a little hot anyway).
I haven't used Megs step 1 but it seems thin. Here's something to try if it is a real thin product. Put a line of it on the paint and back your PC over it on a slow speed (2 or 3). Spread it around your area. Once spread up the speed.
Yes the XMT polishes are probably something that you want to try.

hey i had the same problem the other day with my car and it was the second time i used the PC. I even posted a question about it not "spinning" enough. My problem was that i was pushing down too hard and not letting the machine do the work. i had to find the right pressure, usually just the weight of the machine on flat surfaces and i also let it sit over the area a bit. i mean not letting it wonder like a typical orbit buffer. that seemed to work well and i was able to get most swirls and spots off. there are still spider webs all over but i only had meguiers number 1 and harly wax. still looks way better than before and the PC didnt get as hot.

The step one from Megs (DC paint cleaner?) has little or no cut, its more like its say: Paint cleaner, and it depends on how bad your water spots are.

If you want to stay in the Megs line, the MG 83 is a better option imo, that with the yellow megs pad does a great job (note: dust some)

The XMT series is also great with the PC, ive used the XMT 1 with great result, but if its bad you may step up to the XMT 2, you can still use the yellow megs pad, or try with the white first. OR you can try the XMT 360 with the white pad....

3rd option is the Menzerna 106ff, its a nano polish, and its a great product regarding the hard cc on newer cars (German Autos feks) same pads her too.

remember: ALWAYS start with the least agressive combo first (pad and product)

Thank you for the info so far. I just ordered the XMT swirl remover kit. Looks like it is much easier to work on the videos. I can make the water spots better with the Meg step 1 but you can still see the outline. I was going to buy some XMT locally, but could not find it anywhere so I ordered a kit.
