Washing LC CCS Pads before using?

Hi everyone,

I just received my PC yesterday! Woo Hoo!

Now before I use my PC should I wash and dry the pads prior to any polishing? I'm thinking this is the same process as if I purchased MF's. Thanks in advance for your advice and feedback!

Uh oh, I knew my excitement at using my UDM for the first time would make me forget something! Well, good thing BMWs have a hard CC, right?

I doubt it even matters if you go right from the plastic bag to slapping the pad on the backing plate.

I've never washed any of my CCS pads prior to use. They're in a sealed plastic bag. Now the low profile freebies that come with some orders I will just rinse off real quickly just to be sure.

I never wash them, especially since they come in the plastic wrap

When I get new pads...I wipe them with a Mf towel first..then run a pad brush over them (fingernail cleaning brush) then rewipe them...just to ensure they are clean and grit free.....I brush my pads for each panel also....

Little story....Last year I ordered 2 dozen MF towels....I washed them before using as always....next day I grabbed a few to use....I went to wipe the paint and heard SCREEEECH..I looked I seen a scratch with white powder on the end of it....lucky it was not deep....anyways I looked at the MF..seen nothing...felt around....I found a broken needle in it about a 1/4 inch long....still had the fabric in the eye..so it came from factory like that....so any thing that touches paint clean and inspect....

no need to wash them...just a wipe and look...

Al

Awesome, thanks everybody for the info!

Al,

that's exactly what i'm worried about! The pads were all sealed but like your story...you just never know. I'll clean with the nail brush tonight. Thanks!

Oh glad to hear that I'm not the only one paranoid about keeping my pads clean and constantly washing them

Al, thanks for your sotry. I'm going to pay more attention to my MF now, I give them a good wash before I use them too but boy I would hate to do that to my vehicles. Thanks for sharing big Al

I wash everything that is going to touch my vehicle. Before it touches my vehicle. Simple rule that might save you grief in the long run.
