Yeh. But, some pressure may equal some more heat which is what causes polish to break down.
Bottom line is your first few cars are going to be trial and error. It's frustrating but a fairly quick learing curve.
Here's something that might help at first. Time your polish breaking down (almost disappear) with a kitchen timer. Time it again, etc, etc. Then set your timer for each area you do. You'll be in the ball park with this system and will eventually get a feel for it and toss the timer.
