Same pad, different products?

I've been wondering about this for a while, so here she goes:

I have a bunch of pads, the LC orange, white, black etc. What if I've already used one kind of product on them before. Say, in my case, the orange has been used with SSR2.5, the white with SSR1 and the gray with EX-P.

What if I want to use PO85RD now. Can I wash the gray pad, then use it for PO85RD? Or take the Orange pad and use XMT3 on it?

I agree. I use many products with the same pads. As long as they are clean I see no point in having designated pads for certain products. I wouldn't use a pad that I've polished with to apply a sealant though, so those are designated sealant pads I suppose. I do have one pad that I only use SSR1 with .... a LC 7.5" white pad which is now pink

I agree with Al and budman, I've used a bunch of products and I just wash and go at it. Nothing to be overly concerned with...well that's just my feed back.

I wash my edge pads after every use, so no need to worry what product was on it. That would be too much thinking hehe.

That's good news. I guess the rule of thumb is to stay with a product that is equally or MORE aggressive, right?

So going from a pad that used to have EX-P on it to PO85RD would be OK, but taking a pad that used to have SSR2.5 on it and them going to XMT1 wouldn't be...

just on a side note if you didn't already know Dawn power dissolver and a scrub brush and warm water work really well to clean pads IMO

I personally think you have it backwards, I would NOT use a pad that I used a polish with to apply a sealant... Even with washing my finishing pads that I use sealants for still have some product left in it (talk about durability) so I wouldn't feel comfortable having a polish mixed in there...

I've mixed and matched pads with different polishes. But like others have said, I will only use a pad that I've polished with with polishes, glazes with glazes etc. etc. I couldn't imagine my pad collection if I had a dedicated pad for each product. I'd need a bigger storage system lol
