Seriously though, I've never had a problem with my Edge pads touching my PC and I don't use any spacer at all. The pads are closer to the PC compared to single sided pads, but there's still plenty of room there.
There was an old version of the PC adapter which was longer and they purposely made it shorter. I never had the longer adapter, but IIRC what people were saying was that the shorter adapter reduced machine vibration and increased pad control.
