PC just not cutting it..... Help

Ok as most of you know me I've been detailing for about 6 months now part-time. I picked up the PC7336 @ Lowe's x3.

Anyways here lately after spreading the polish or swirl remover with any pad... This thing will barely spin on speed (6). I was thinking well maybe it's just crappin' out on me so I switch to the new one just out of the box (my backup).. It did the same thing. I took a look in the inner housing to see that there was some premature wear on the sides, it almost looks like the counterweight is rubbing..... I checked the edge pad and the inside looks to be stripped...

Could the edge pad be stripped??? I'm just kinda confused. I got out the rotary and did the rest of the job but it was kinda scary

Any thoughts???

uhhh ooo...so what part is stripping? is it the acutual housing where the bracket sits in you think?...is it plastic?

I dont know how you did that to your edge pads, but it seems they are stripping. Are you taking them on and off correctly ? Lining them up then pulling them down with two hands. If you do them at all at an angle, I heard from Aaron that they will start stripping because of the improper method.

Thats a thought but I pretty much pick a clean surface and press down on the pad to ensure proper mounting. Whats weird is that the pc has a ring around the inside of the housing where counter weight seems to be rubbing... Anyone experienced this. I'm about to go to work so I'll be away for awhile any help will be good. I'll check this thread once I get everything going smooth @ work.

I've read that the Edge pads are almost too thick to use with the PC and the foam on the pad acutally rubs against the head of the PC and counterweight. I think CalgaryDetail has pics of this.... he hasn't been posting much lately but I think he said that the counterweight and PC head actually burned the pads... your counterweight looks like it has been in contact with the pads.... I'll see if I can dig up those pictures....

If thats the case then the adapter should be machined to be longer...?? Thanks for the heads up.

I have never used the Edge pads. If you apply pressure to the PC how close does the pad get to the head of the PC? I'm not saying this is your problem ... but a possibility. Hope you get things figured out.

What makes you think the pad is stripped? The hex looks fine. Call me to disucss further.

So my question is, what do you mean by spinning? The pad isn't supposed to spin like a wheel, but just jiggle around the axis.

I'll call you tomorrow Aaron. Thanks for reviewing and this is not any attempt to mislead anyone about the edge pads. They are the best thing since sliced bread to me, but I just need to find my problem.

Grimm - On speed (6) the pad should spin effortlessly with medium pressure. If I just as much, contact the surface the pad stops and I get no movement...? This just leads me to believe I'm spinning freely inside the pad...
