i'm interested too, since megs sells a 6" plate for the DA buffers, so that means 8" pads?!

I am currently using a 6" (actually 5 3/4") backing plate which allows me to use anything from 6" pads up to the 8" mark. The only pads that I use though, are Lake Country 7.5" pads.

you know the edge adapters should fit all pad sizes. so you can switch from 4 inch pads to 6 inch pads or whatever in a matter of about 2 seconds, instead of having to unscrew the old plate, screw on the new one, try to center the pad... its just easer i think?
