If you are asking about the difference between the Porter Cable Random Orbital Sander 7336 and the Porter Cable Orbital Polisher 7424 then there is really no difference. They are basically identical except that the 7336 has a 6" counter weight and the 7424 has a 5". They just chose to call the 7336 a sander and the 7424 a polisher. Hope this answers your question.

the PC is a random orbital sander, but all sanders can be used as polishers, vice versa.they are the same thing except one has a foam pad and one has sandpaper
if your looking for a new polisher, look at sanders instead because thats what most of them are called
how many RPM's does a buffer need to turn at to be able to remove swirls?
Random orbital's spin of axis and transfer little heat, thus they need alot of speed to reduce/remove swirls. 5000+ rpms
Circular/Rotary polishers spin in direct circles and transfer heat almost immediately. As such speed is NOT wanted, and most polishing is done at a 1500rpm or less setting.
