I have just bought some 4" LC pads after reading they work better for polishing. What I am wondering now is at what speen should i run these using Menzerna polish's? My thought would be to run them at 5 but wasnt sure as the 4" pads dont seem to slow down as much when working them like the larger pads do.

on a PC I'm guessing? I would still use 6 for correction. Maybe 5 for finishing polishes. I've continued to step up to spd 6 on my PC and 4" orange pads

I don't know about those pads, I know others had trouble with velcro/hook loop 4" pads coming apart or backing melting at high speeds b/c of heat transfer. But I've used Edge 4" pads and speed 6 no problem, but thats a different setup from velcro/hook & loop.

My 5.5 inch pads never seemed to get that warm at speed 6. I cant believe the 4 inch pads get so got they melt...

No its true, my 4 inch pads got so warm that they transferred the glue from that holds the velcro backing on to the hoop part on my backing plate. It kind of looks like a little blue stain right in the middle. Pad no longer holds it firmness either, won't resist pressing on it at all anymore.

I will be buying some 4" pads during the next sale. Im glad to know this because i would hate to have ruined them. So you suggest going with speed 5 and everything should be fine. On speed 5 will they 4'' still cut better than the 5.5'' on speed 6?

Was it the 4" CCS low profile pads that caused all the issues? I heard the 4", 1.25" thick, pads are a lot better. No shredding or heat issues.

the thicker 4" pads on speed six works like a charm. It's the low profile pads that don't have the velcro backing all the way to the edge that are causing problems.

Recently switched to 4" for more cut and was afraid i will ruin the pads quicker when applying same force as with my 5.5" but so far nothing wrong with them. I always used hot water to wash them and did not noticed any glue coming off.
