I have a 2007 corvette. As careful as I am I still managed to get some light swirl marks or lines in the paint. I am a faithful ZAINO user and very satisfied with their products(optical clarity is unmatched) My question is trying to decide on purchasing the porter cable kit with the pads and use this with zaino swirl remover or buy the kit and a swirl remover like wolfgang 3.0, I'm really not interested in the whole kit as I dont want to change from zaino. I used pinnacle soverign on it but it just didnt have that optical clarity i'm after, any advice is welcomed as to which pad to start with etc, I guess i'm just concerned using the pc because alot of my friends say you can burn through or ruin your clearcoat etc, I know my vette clearcoat is thin but its also hard, I would rather get the info from those who use one then rely on my friends OPINION!!! help me out guys this sale ends soon

Your friends are dead wrong. A PC is the safest polisher that you can use. I would suggest a Flex for you Vette, being your cc is very hard. As far as pads, get orange for correction, white for polishing, and black, blue or red for finishing, glazing, and waxing if you decide to do it by machine instead of by hand.

A random orbital is a good idea and we sell thousands on the corvetteforum to enthusiasts. I didnt like the Zaino polish much, to light and green stained rubber surrounds. I prefer Menzerna or the Woldgang 3.0 duo. Nice thing, you can use Zaino over either without issue and Z5Pro looks dripping wet with them as they finish down so well and really bring out the Vettes finish.

There is nothing wrong with using a pc on your vette and you will not burn the paint. As suggested above I would get some Menzerna SIP and 85RD and then follow with what your choice of lsp is. I also use 3M Ultrafina for a finishing polish and that works very well on my vette. If you have any other questions I am sure Killr or myself can steer you in the right direction.

Are these Corvette owners only interested in increasing the gloss of their paint and not correcting the paint? As hard as Corvette paint is, I just cannot see a pc being able to correct much.

I have seen and done corrections on a Vette with the PC. That said you need the right combo of product and pad and alot of patience. I would suggest an upgrade now that several are possible, and I love my Flex.

A pc will to a point, it does take some time. If you want to do a high level of correction you will need a rotary with out a doubt.

dude, the poor guy is already worried about burning up the paint and now we are talking about a rotary....

op, you just need to jump right into the orbital machine game...little to no risk of damaging your paint, and good results can and will be had with minor paint correction and polishing....product/pad combonation will dictate this....

Was not trying to scare anyone at all, just letting him know that some scratches/swirls will need rotary attention on the hard corvette clear. The pc will be a great starting point for him and will probably get the results he is looking for.

Most newer Vettes should not need huge correction, and a PC will work with correct polish/pad choice. Just remember I said most ...
