Pad Colors - Purpose - Newbie Questions

Hi, newbie here. Just bought my first PC 7424 and pad kit from Autogeek. Now I don't know which pads to use for what! So, I've tried the search and didn't get the info I'm looking for so I'm asking for help. Do the various color pads denote their purpose, like cutting, polishing, buffing, etc.? And, if so, do the colors hold across manufacturer lines, like orange always means it is to be used for the same purpose, regardless of brand?

I'm looking forward to my first use of my polisher and getting a shine on my new Monterey Red C6. I'm thinking of clay bar then Rejex. Does it require any particular color of pad?

Don't worry, I'm in the same boat you are lol... which kit did you get?

Never used Rejex so I'm not sure. But if you search on here, there's some threads/post showing what each color pad is for. Just remember some manufacturers have different uses when compared to the same color pad from another company. I highly reccomend the Edge 2K kit, I love that system.

Here's the Pad layout for the Edge System, can't find the uses for pads with other companies but I'm sure somebody else will chime in.

Need to know pad kit to offer advice ... Megs, Lake Country, and Edge all follow different coloring for different stages.

If you are using Rejex on your Vette, and want to use your buffer, then use a finishing pad. I will warn that Rejex is highly sterile looking in my opinion, and you will likely want to add some additional gloss over it. Try Quikshine, Poorboys Spray/Gloss, or even Crystal Mist as needed. They are spray and wipe so you can use them after each wash relatively quickly.

Thanks for the replies! I bought my kit from Autogeek and it was the PC 7424 and pad bundle. It has orange, dark gray/black, and white foam pads. I don't know the manufacturer. I'm assuming it matches the chart posted above so I'll go with that unless somebody advises differently. Thanks everybody!

Also, I don't have to use Rejex. If there is another recommendation for use with the PC 7424 then please let me know. I have rheumatioid arthritis and it is the main reason I got the buffer/polisher. My elbows can't take doing a whole car by hand.

I think you got the Wolfgang pad kit.

Orange-light cutting pad
White-polishing pad
Grey-finishing pad

you might like Wolfgang, not quite as durable (length of protection) as Rejex, but clearly looks better.
