Thinking about buying PC for boat/car task

Here is the deal, been wanting a PC for awhile. I inherited a 2001 17' center console fiberglass boat (white) that hasn't been well maintain. There is a pretty good oxidation on the sides. I tried doing it by hand but it is just way to much. It cleaned up pretty darned good but it is clear that I need to go over a few more times. I am using 3M Marine Compound 9004


I am toying with the idea of buying a PC. To do the job and of course used for my two other cars.

Is the PC strong enough? Or should I look at something else.

If you're just looking to remove some oxidation, I have used the PC with a wool pad with great results. Depending on how bad it is, you can try using a chemical cleaner such as Klasse AIO, or maybe stepping it up to something fairly abrasive like the product you are using currently.

PC ... UDM .... G110 .... Flex , you have several choices that should help shine up that boat. Megs offers a line of boating products as does Duragloss too.

Wool pad? never used one. Any particular one? Does it matter?

Foamed Wool 6.5 inch Polishing/Buffing Pad

Sorry if I was unclear in my post. A wool pad would be best with an abrasive polish...if the oxidation isn't too bad, you can use AIO with a foam pad. I recently did a boat that hadn't been waxed in several years using that method and it came out great. But like I said, it all depends on the severity of the oxidation.

I always try to shy away from using a compound whenever possible, so try AIO and the foam pad first and see what it can do. You'd be surprised at how much oxidation can be removed without using abrasives!

That size boat you should be fine, anything larger and I wouldn't bother with the PC, takes to long. We hired someone to do our Cig before sold, I washed and waxed it once with Collinite, took to damn long

if you are considering a pc, then i would get the udm...its pretty much the same machine with more power, better warranty....i have used both, and the biggest difference is setting 6...much more power....
