Re: Ridgid 2611,any other users here?

It's part #23 on the third page of the parts PDF.

Thank you! I guess (don't quote me on this) purpose of this break pad comes to surface when sanding (woodworking), which is a primary purpose of this tool, it is designed for it. I guess it prevents edge of backing plate and edge of sanding paper hitting into vertical part of L shaped joint and damaging it when sanding the horizontal part on the inside (think sanding inside of the cabinet/drawer) while still allowing you to sand all the way to the edge.

Thus it has no benefit when using this as a polisher, pad already overhangs it.

Re: Ridgid 2611,any other users here?

Did you reinsert all the screws after you pulled off the guard/brake?

I did btw...if it makes any difference.

I did as I was not sure are they holding anything else in place (I was not working of the parts drawing) plus I wanted to close holes so polish doesn't get into them so I can revert it back one day if I want to.

Re: Ridgid 2611,any other users here?

Well.....

I tried it without the brake/guard however I found it to be more "clanky" with a little play in the backing plate.

Once I reinstalled the guard the BP was tight again and all was normal.

I'm just going keep it on as it does seem to do something after all.

Perhaps I could just trim off the outer ring?

I have not experienced that. Can you please describe "clanky" the way you see it? It shouldn't be vertically as there is nothing in that rubber that plays role in fitment of bp, and horizontally it could be only if purpose of that rubber is to also prevent counterweight from hitting wall of plastic part underneath but I can not remember do they fit that way to start with, I can not conclude that unless I disassemble it again and take another look in how they fit together and observe running at low speed with bp taken off. It will take little time before I can get to that.

That sounds like one of the ways.

Re: Ridgid 2611,any other users here?

I was wondering if anyone has had problems with the backing plate not sticking to the velcro on the pads. I have had a 2611 for right at a month now used it a few times and did great, now all of a sudden it won't stick to the velcro but feels fine when I run my hand over it
Thanks for any info

I haven't experienced anything like that. Have you tried brand new pad to make sure it is not the pad?

In the worst case here is good part about Ridgid tools: lifetime warranty.
