5.5" pads-which backing plate???

I just bought a bunch of 5.5" LC CCS pads for my PC 7424. I thought the 4.75" backing plate would come too close to the edge of the pads so I ordered the 3.5" backing plate and it seems like its too small for the 5.5" LC pads. What do you guys use for the 5.5" pads??? Prolly the 4.75" plate huh? and the 3.5" plate is for the 4" pad huh?

4.75 plate is perfect for the 5.5 pads.

Re: 5.5" pads-which backing plate???

Just buy some 4" pads Mike. They're very handy to use on tight spots like on the front spoiler, rear spoiler, and things like that. I found them very handy when I work on Trans-Am's and on my own vette around the side air vents on the front fenders

Re: 5.5" pads-which backing plate???

Just bought a PC 7424 with a 5" backing plate and 5.5" low profile pads but haven't had a chance to use it yet, it has rained here on an off for weeks. Every instructional video I've seen they are working on flat surfaces, my truck hardly has flat surfaces like most cars. So, would using smaller pads allow you to get into concave area better? Seems like it would. Some of the LC pads I bought are square edge and it seems like a bevel edge could work better in these ares, right or wrong?
