The mass market is looking for "turns" or sales of product. Each square foot of space has to produce X amount of sales or they'll lose money and something else will replace it. A typical Target/Kmart/Walmart/Pepboy shopper is not going to buy enough premium product. On the other hand the premium manufacturers do not want to sell at the discounts required by the mass marketers or support the advertising/promotion dollars required either. The products sitting on those shelves are not there just because they shine the Walmart purchasing managers car the best. They want to see how much money you will spend on advertising to make us run to their store and buy that product.
