Layering

I just finished applying Souveran for the first time. Man it looks nice. I'll try to take some pics tomorrow and put them up. I also used my PC to allpy the wax. I had always done wax by hand before, but this was really easy. It's my new method now

Couple questions:
Is there any advantage to layering the wax? Will the shine get deeper?

How do you guys clean your foam pads? I always put them in the washer with Woolite. That works, but sometimes they are a little dusty the next time I use them.

Thanks for all the great info!

Re: Layering

The more layers=more depth and added protection IMO

Re: Layering

That is an arguable question. Many will say one thing, and other will sway the opposite way.

In MY opinion, anything after 2-3 coats will do nothing. Maybe even make the clarity a little less than expected.

As far as washing foam pads, I soak them for a few hours then throw them in the washer for 2 cycles. I use dawn to wash them with.
Only get a little dusty if the pads were extremely caked up with polish..

Re: Layering

Point of Diminishing Returns -- will carnaubas I have found 1 coverage is all that is needed, a second for uniform coverage only. Never noticed added protection. Add Souveran Spray Wax after each wax if booster is wanted/needed.

Re: Layering

In my opinion, you can layer carnauba waxes but not sealants. I'm not sure the exact number of layers in which there is no point adding more but that would be left up to the user. Having the wax cure on the paint would be better than applying 3 layers at one time. A spit shine method would be a great idea to use if you decide to add multiple layers of carnauba. I have seen pictures of a vehicle with 15+ layers of a wax and the car looked awesome and the paint had a much deeper color as well.

Re: Layering

Thanks for the replies! I've heard it both ways with layering before. I've been usung P21S for years, and usually put on a couple coats of that. It seemed to deepen the shine, but it could just be my imagination BTW - the Souveran results seem very close to what I was getting from the P21S. I think Souveran is a bit deeper though. Maybe next time I'll do a side by side comparison.
