We had 7 new guys join us tonight and 3 of them had NEVER used any type of machine polisher. And that's okay as we all started out the same way... there was a time none of us reading this had ever used a machine to polish paint but that's one of the things we do here at Autogeek... teach people a better way....

Here's are the before shots... starting in the back and working around to the front every square inch of paint on this basecoat/clearcoat custom paint job was filled with swirls and scratches.




























How this truck came to be an Autogeek Thursday Project
I met the owner at Autogeek's Cars & Coffee, a Saturday car show here at Autogeek that's held every 2nd Saturday each month.

I was walking around looking for a dark colored car with lots of swirls to use for my Detailing Tech Session that we offer at all our Cars & Coffee shows.

I owned a 1966 Chevy Milk Truck Streetrod a few years ago so I recognized the front clip as it's the same front clip that was on my Milk Truck. It was parked among the other cars on display in the Autogeek parking lot.









Upon inspecting the finish I struck up a conversation with Blair, the owner, and asked him if I could use his truck to demonstrate how to remove swirls by machine. I told him that if he agreed that we would have him and his truck back to Autogeek to finish the entire process at one of our Thursday project nights. Blair agreed.

I can say with confidence, after seeing the final results, Blair is glad he agreed.

Awesome work and Purple Haze and that Purple paint were made for eachother!

I've never gone straight from Rupes "Blue" to Rupes "White" but I'll give it a shot after seeing this. Other really cool combinations are Rupes yellow pads and Zephir, and Rupes white pads with Keramik. What a nice and flexible system!

The truck was a pleasure to work on and a beautiful looking machine at that. From the paint to the wood lined bed just good looking all the way around. We used the complete system to tackle this beast and as tundrapower already stated it was a pleasure to work with the Rupes system 100 percent of the night. The Rupes system is really an incredible one. Excellent outcome and thanks to Mike for bringing us yet another cool ride.

Seemed like a natural choice... sure came out purdy....

I've never gone straight from Rupes "Blue" to Rupes "White" but I'll give it a shot after seeing this.

It always amazed me how nice the results are from the Rupes Coarse Zephyr Gloss Compound and COARSE blue foam cutting pads createas... It's really something people have to see for themselves to believe.

Before we started this project I took a clean, blue Rupes foam cutting pad and passed it around so everyone could feel how coarse and sharp the foam feels.

After the first step I inspected the finish with a swirl finder light and all there was in the clearcoat was some light haze so the white Rupes foam pads and the white Diamond Ultra Fine polish cleaned this up Quik and easy.
