Re: 1966 Blown Nova - Extreme Makeover - Pictures & Videos

Here's a few more shots from this project off my camera...

If you've ever heard of the term, narrowed rearend, this is what one looks like under the car. The axles and axle tube housings have been cut to shorten them and this makes the rearend more narrow to make room for fatter, wider tires....

Attended the class last week and found it very informative. I flew in from NY and and as a professional detailer for 30 years , I definitely learned some new things and would recommend it for anyone in the business. I would definitely attend another class in the future!! I got to use the Rupes LHR 12E Duetto and LHR75E mini two awesome machine. Mike Phillips was very helpful with any question l have. Keep up the good work

Virtually speechless on this one Mike, Wow! I've been counting the days to see how this one would come out.

The work, and the car just blow my mind.

Honestly, and this ain't bull, if you had two sets of keys in your hand, this one's and a new Ferarri 458, told me to choose, I don't believe I'd be driving away with the Italian Car. This is what "I" call a '66 Nova!

My brother and I flew in from New York and attended the class. Mike was very personable and very helpful. He was informative and was very hands on with the way he taught. It was easy to learn from him. All the techniques and products that he showed, helped me for my profession as a detailer. Thanks Mike.

    Hi Denis,

Thanks for the kind words, it's always great to connect with fellow detailers. I'd also like to thank you for flying down from New York JUST to attend this project.

When we first spoke on the phone I was under the impression you were flying to South Florida for vacation time or to visit relatives or some other fun related activity so when you told me that you and your brother flew down just for the Thursday night project and were flying back the next morning I must say I was impressed.

I'm also very proud to say that this is the only place I know of in the U.S. where forum members are not only invited but encouraged to join us to work on cool cars like this....

Denis using the Rupes Duetto to machine polish the paint on this 1966 Nova...

Remember to share our forum with your car buddies and hope to see you and your brother at a future event...

    I agree.

Take away the cash resale value factor and base your decision on the merits of the car alone and I'd take the Nova at least it's practical from a maintenance point of view.

One of my buddies in West Palm Beach owns both a Ferrari and a 1969 Pro Touring Camaro with a Big Block Chevy and he says he LOVES driving the Camaro because he always gets thumbs-up from people and smiles and nice compliments.

He says when he drives the Ferrari he gets dirty looks, vile comments and the middle finger. Says it takes a lot of the fun out of owning and driving it.

Thanks for saying that but these are really team efforts. I play team leader for all these Thursday night projects which means if something goes wrong I get the blame. Knock on cyber-wood nothing has ever gone wrong.

For advanced procedures like on this Nova I sanded out two tracers and then cut out my sanding marks with a rotary buffer but for the most part it's the team of great guys that attend these projects that do the majority of the work.

So let's give due credit where credit is due... here's the AG Team....
