Yesterday was my first day at......

The shooting range and OMG did I have a blast. I rented a Glock 17 and a 9mm Beretta(sp?) and fired off about 65 round between the two. My wife showed up and practiced on the 9mm since she has to re qualify soon. She still hates that gun just just to big for her hands. I am definitely going to get a few guns and a shot gun for the home/range. I'm going to subscribe to a gun mag to keep myself informed and take some classes (including a CW license class). We are going to rent a few guns and see which ones feel good and buy one for each (more for me )

While I was there I ordered my dads B-day gift...........Remington 870 Express 20 gauge pump shot gun . All my brothers chipped in since he "hinted" he wanted a shot gun for the Georgia home. Dogs had a run in with a very large snake there and the 50 yr old 22 varmint riffle with a messed up sight took to many tries to actually shoot it (5-6 times before hitting it, he's old give him a break lol). Since the 22 varmint riffle belonged to his dad he's not parting with it ever in his life time.

I bet that was a blast. Did you go to one on the base or the public range there? I have been wanting to go there. Once you get a shotgun there is a nice clay shooting range about an hour from here. Two different difficulty courses. Been there many times. Gonna get my CW too. Any pics of your targets?

I didn't keep the targets I did get some pretty decent head shots . It was a public range, ATP Guns and Range off of College Park Road near 17 on the right hand side (atpguns.com). They sell new and used rifles, shot guns, hand guns from what I saw. Very nice place I really enjoyed myself there. For 2 glasses, 2 ear muffs, 3 large targets, Glock 17, and the 9mm, and 50 rounds for each (cheap ammo) it came out to $44.XX and the pass last all day. There member ship fee is $125 for a year with free gun rentals and 1 free guest with some other benefits. Clay shooting I can get that on base .

That range is a lot more $$$ than I'm used too, but I haven't been in years. I read your thread and thought I've got to get back. CWP renewal this Feb. but it's not tied to any qualifying/shooting. What caliber does your wife have to use to qualify? Army used to be gov't issue .45. A really nice size .45 is the "Kimber" Ultra Carry.

The Berretta 9 mm which she hates, there are other ranges around I was recommended that place for gun purchases. They have very competitive prices. I'm sure there are cheaper ones I just have to find them.

I went shooting yesterday as well. Me and buddy took out a glock 27 40S&W, my rem, 597 .22, and my Browning silver hunter 12ga. All in all we put 600 rounds down the range. We killed plenty of paper and I shot a grasshopper too!!

Ask your shoulder that the next day if you shoot 100 3" or 3.5" rounds in a 12 ga. But yeah while you are there the rounds don't seem to last. Thanks for the info. I think there is a range in the Francis Marion that is free to use. You have to supply everything.

We have an outside range locally , I sure miss it since having the boys. I have a Glock 17 that is field prepared with a FireDragon compensated barrel thats the wifes friend. Very little kick, 15 rounds pre-ban and truly a great gun for her. I bought her a Sig 360 and she never uses it, looks like a James Bond toy.

There is a really nice outdoor shooting range just north of Phoenix AZ. Five buck gets you in and you can shoot all day until you run out of amo, and you can bring pretty much anything except a .50 cal rifle.
