like I said, as long as I see them before I am right up on them I am OK. But that guy would have freaked me out if I suddenly looked up an saw him hanging out over my head.

I grew up out in the county. I use to have to pick them up and move them when I would mow the grass. I got to the piont I would not use a stick to move them. I would just grab them by the tail and fling them out of the way. The only thing you would have to worry about in Ohio is a rare rattle snake and a
very rare water moccasin... those guys are mean!!!! Oh yeah... copper heads too!

Good rule of thumb is to stay away from any water snake.
From the looks of that guy... I think I would leave him alone.
