Car Damaged in Walgreens Parking Lot. Please help!

Late last week I have to run to a local Walgreens to get some meds. It was dark outside and I pulled up to a spot near the door that had one of those concrete barricades that keeps you from going too far in the parking space. I didn't notice as I was pulling in, but the two rebar poles that are driven into the barricades to keep them in place were sticking up about 3 inches on each side. Unfortunately, I didn't notice this until I the front bumper of my car was already over them. All I heard was a loud scraping noise. I immediately got out and checked to see what it was. The rebar scraped and tore the underside of the bumper on my brand new Lexus. I told the cashier what had happened when I went inside and she said that a manager was not available. I left my information and asked for someone to call me the next day (Friday). I never received a call so I wrote to their corporate offices. I went back to the store the next day and the same employee was there. He told me that the management was in a meeting and that they would call me in regards to it. I also looked and the rebar had been hammered back into place and was not sticking out. What should I do? I have about $600 damage to my car and no one has called me about this. My insurance doesn't want to handle this as they say that Walgreens' insurance should cover this. Anyone have any advice for me?

Hindsight is always 20/20, but in a situation like that, if you don't have a camera on you, go inside and buy a disposable so that you have proof.

Maybe I'm missing something, but how is Walgreens responsible for this? Aren't you the one who wasn't paying attention and drove into them?

I do have pictures of the barricades and of the rebar sticking up out of it.

P1et, Walgreens should be respobsible for maintaining their parking lots and the barricades. If the metal posts weren't sticking up and were flush with the top of the barricade like they are suposed to be, this would not hav ebeen an issue. It was dark and one could not see the dark metal rebar protruding upward against the dark background. Things like this is why companies have insurance.

OK, now I see what you're talking about. You're talking about the big metal "pins" that stick out on each side of the concrete barricades, right?

I had that happen to my wife once (at a Subway instead of a Walgreen's). I basically took it up with my insurance company holding to the position that it was their responsibility to see that my car was repaired, and that if they felt Subway was at fault they should definately pursue that as a means of getting re-imbursed.

That's the wat to handle it, you should not be going head to head with walgreens...

You have proof, you were in the right, you should not have to pay a dime... let you insurance company do the rest, that is after all what we pay them for!

Actually, my insurance said that I would have to take it up with Walgreens because their adjuster estimated is at $470.05.

Three weeks ago my brothers brand new GT mustang got smacked in the door by a stray shopping cart in a target parking lot(1.500$ in damage) he turned it in to his insurance and they said it was targets fault and they will handle the claim and go after target for their money.So I do not know what insurance you have but after this I think it would be a good idea to start shopping around.
