ants gotta drink too....

Went to use the bathroom when I saw this.

I hate ants 99.9% of the time because they are annoying as crap when they find food and then there are millions of them making trails throughout the house.

This time though I decided to give them a break. The little guys must be thirsty. These past few months have been very hot. 90+ degree days have been the norm for awhile now. Just like any other creature, water is needed to survive. I guess ants are no different, I've never seen them gathered around water like this before, so I never thought about it till now.

You cannot really see, but the water is suspended in a ring surrounding the drain. I tried to get some close up pictures, I think they came out okay for a 6-year old point and shoot.

That's a serious ant problem waiting to happen. I recommend Combat Max ant gel or bait station before you have a less amusing encounter with them.

I've never had any luck with bait traps. Never can get them to go in.

I've been killing them as I see them with windex.

Try that Combat Max gel in the syringe, that usually works great inside.

Try these, they work, really well.

Ant Killer Liquid Bait Stations (6-Pack)-300 at The Home Depot

Seriously, you'll have a ton of them all over them. Just leave them and let them take the food back to the colony. A couple days later you'll have no more. Then if you ever see a lone scout a few weeks later, kill it dead always before it can get away.

These 'creeping-photos' scared the crap out of me.
And just when I was about to take my after-dinner constitutional.

I can always...

Terro ant traps. Work like a charm. Put one in the trail. It usually takes ours less than a day to eliminate the colony. Available at Home Depot type places.

Yep, love those things (they're what I linked above). Also like that they're "fairly natural" (in my opinion). They're basically sugar water and Borax, no crazy chemicals really.
