Terro. Or Amdro. Either OTC work great.

If you're going that way the Optigard (no relation to Optimum products) works well also.

Re: ants gotta drink too....

After switching to Terro ant bait liquid I have had an ant free summer.

I put little pieces of cardboard all over the yard with a few drops in the middle of each piece. And did the same around the perimeter of my house.

The ants always found it and within a few days there were no more ants.

As a final test I would put a chicken bone on the lawn and if no ants showed up in a day or so then they are all dead.

Borax works.

20 mule laundry detergent (wal-mart) mix with juice they will drink it up bring it back to the nest and kill them all.

Yep, that's basically what the Terro stuff is, it's just packaged up in a nice tidy little ant bait.

It works for a while, then the little guys wise up. After a few rounds of Terro, the ants at my house wouldn't go near the stuff.

Re: ants gotta drink too....

I don't have good luck with the borax-based baits...they seem to ingest them and keep on going. The Combat and other Fipronil-based gel and solid baits seem to work well, and as mentioned earlier there are some other slow-acting baits that work by a similar action. There was another really good sulfuramid bait that was made by FMC, but they don't seem to make that anymore.
