Re: What do you think about while Detailing..

personally I'm like a dog....
I always remember the cartoon of a dog sleeping with the thought bubble above his head that has a picture of him sleeping.
So...I think of a dog that dreams about sleeping while he's sleeping.

If I can keep it that simple, should be ok.

Most people don't. Lol, we are apparently a different breed.

Usually I get the radio goin relax and take my time and let my mind wander all over the place. I think about a variety of different things from the weeks events at work to family things how I wish I had my DA so I could do paint correction to wishing I had a bigger garage. Mainly a deeper garage do I could pull my truck in and shut the door lol.

That too! Lol mowing and detailing are my shrink sessions. I think I'm on debt with shrink bills between the cars and the mower lol.

Re: What do you think about while Detailing..

I don't do detailing for a living. I just do the few cars and the Harleys that we have. So my mind probably doesn't wander as much as someone that's doing it regularly. Mainly, I enjoy listening to some old tunes while I'm concentrating on what I'm doing, and hoping I don't make a mistake by doing the wrong thing, or doing the right thing incorrectly.

Re: What do you think about while Detailing..

I usually think about physics, my other hobby.

Like how electric fields, and magnetic fields really work. Charged or magnetized particles send out virtual photons in order to transfer energy and produce this force we see send them flying apart.

Think of it like this: Suppose you have 2 ice skaters facing each other with one bowling ball. One ice skater throws the bowling ball at the other who catches it. What happens? Well the momentum of the ball sends him backward a bit. If they keep playing catch, the skaters will move apart.

This is essentially how magnets with like poles facing each other, or charged particles with like charges repel. Instead of bowling balls, the mediator of the force is virtual photons.

Anywho...funny thing about virtual photons is they are so fleeting, they only exist for extremely short periods of time. They are incredibly hard to detect.

By the way, that "god particle" the higgs boson recently discovered at CERN that made the news recently is also a mediator particle. It is the mediator of the higgs field, the field that gives all matter it's mass. The mediator particle for gravitation would be the graviton, so far undiscovered.

I wonder if/when they will ever discover that, or even if it exists at all.

forcefield - I agree.

Say you have 2 coins in your pocket, the total is 35 cents, and one of them's not a quarter. What 2 coins do you have?

Why do 'slim chance' and 'fat chance' mean the same thing?

Why doesn't my GF understand that the square plate, of the same diameter as the round plate, won't rotate in the rectangular microwave like the round one? "look!..see..it just sits there!"

A young lady I've been spending a lot of time with lately doesn't understand it when I tell her I love mowing my grass so much because it gives me time to clear my head.

Re: What do you think about while Detailing..

yeah, it's one of those things that can ruin a nice evening as the receiver of the comment doesn't understand why it's even an issue.

Reminds me of the scene from Schindler's List where Schindler is explaining to the pyscho nazi camp leader (who is shooting prisoners from his room's window while drinking champagne) that anyone can do that. The real power is NOT doing it.

Even if the intentions are not to hurt, merely to inform (and to get that piece of left-over chicken warmed-up properly) it's normally better to just take a deep breath and let it go.

Funny though...you're right.
