built it 3 years ago...never turns off. only upgraded the video card since it was built. Yea its fast!

Hi, I have a dell dimension 8100 6 years and still ticking, windows millennium which is not the greatest operating system as you may know,,,,,
but all in all a good machine.....What helping in keeping this machine alive is cleaning the interior every 6 months.......animal hair and what ever else gets sucked in there  |

I bought it with my student discount and saved around $400.
Does HP have student discounts? Dell? Compaq?

| | | dell also has an outlet store for refurished computers. If you have friends in a local district...see if their district has a representative or buying plan...sometimes its good for up to 10% off
personally i think the dells tend to be overrated...good computers but you can do just as well with lesser know brands...if not better.

Watch out for gateway; seriously... check some of their computers. They can't be beat.. |
