Calling all Aussies (problems and solutions thread)

    Hi Guys,

thought we could start a thread to introduce ourselves and have our own little mini-community on here with our Aussie only problems and, most importantly solutions.

So, drop by, say hi, and lets get the discussions flowing.

Something to start the ball rolling, buying in bulk from AG (Buy car care products in bulk or case lots for valuable savings! Microfiber multi-packs, gallon sizes, bundles of towels, and full cases of your). They seem to have a large range of stuff and some of it in not too bulky a pack, for example, 6 clay bar kits from mothers for $95 (Mothers California Gold Clay Bar Paint Saving System). If six Aussies want it then it may be worth our while, even with standard shipping from AG!!!

Hmm, yeah that would definitely work out cheaply for everyone. I don't need any clay ATM though..

Hi davey. I think we do have a bit of buying power if we want to work together, but I guess it's whether people can be bothered.

May I ask where you buy stuff at the moment? Places I've seen so far are zas, carcare and waxit (with waxit being the autogeek supplier).

Re: Calling all Aussies (problems and solutions thread)

I may look at buying off AG just don't like the idea of sending through an order and then waiting to find out how much shipping is. Is the shipping reasonable?
Just recently purchased of Chemical Guys and am very impressed with the products and pricing.
Also bought of wax it and the service was outstanding. There is one Australian car care site that I will never use again as when my order arrived the products had broken and spilled all over the box, they asked me to measure and take pictures of how much was missing/spilled and they would credit me the amount that was spilled instead of replacing the damaged item!

Sixty3, you are not charged anything without your approval.
& generally (depending how busy things are I suppose) shipping quotes are sorted quickly.

I would sometimes send a request late at night before bed & wake up 5 hours later to my quote... (due to time difference)

As far as shipping costs it really depends what you need.
Bottles of liquid, etc quickly get heavy but may not take up that much room.
Buffing pads, etc are light as a feather but can fill a big box quickly...

    PM sent re: local store

Be careful with using a visa debit card though, as it will most likely reduce your "available balancec" in your account for a few days, while they charge/cancel on you.

Maybe to give everyone an idea about shipping to australia we can share our quotes...

WG-6500 - Wolfgang Deep Gloss Total Concours Kit 129.99 (now $10 more)
    WG-DUO - Wolfgang Duo 3.0 59.99
    LC-75-6PACK - 6 QTY Lake Country 5 1/2 x 7/8 Inch Beve 34.99

Total $225, shipping quote was $115. The kits have 7x500mL containers in total (just so you have some idea of size/weight).

Also, what brand clay do you guys use? I'm thinking of going with the waxit concours kit, anyone tried....

Re: Calling all Aussies (problems and solutions thread)

    Get ready...

    2 x grit guards
    600g clay
    4 x 128oz bottles
    8 x 16oz bottles
    4 x 32oz bottles
    12 x 4" pads
    6 x 6.5" pads
3 x CCS hand polishing pads
    4 x hose blockers (1 pack)
    Wall banner
    Book & DVD
    Mega applicator kit
    Box of 100 gloves
    Proportioner combo kit
    3 x foaming sprayers
    3-4 x MF towels
    6 x small brushes
    6 x squeeze bottles
    3.5" backing plate

There was a few other bits & pieces but that is the bulk of it.
    AG shipping quote was $400
Package weight was around 35kg (90lbs?) & required a LARGE box

Yeah you're right about whether people could be bothered. Not everyone requires the same product at the same time, plus you would need someone to collect the $ from all interested parties etc.

I do what (I think) most overseas customers do. I try to save my orders up and buy from AG whenever possible to make the shipping costs worthwhile. If however, I need an odd item here or there, or it's just not worth sending some heavier/bulkier items over from the States, I'll buy from Waxit or CCP in that order. Have not been too impressed with CCP of late, I may try Zas next time..
