figuring out how to install a backup camera

I have a backup camera that I am trying to figure out how to install. I pulled off the trunk lid liner and I cannot figure out how i am going to run the wire into the car. It is a license plate mounted unit.

The only logical way to do it is run the wire into the space where the license plate light is and then drill a hole in their to get the wire into the trunk. The part I would have to get into the trunk is about as wide as a usb stick but a bit thicker. So this would have to be a very big drill bit. Thoughts?
