One Week on the Road with Max for Operation Comfort

One Week on the Road with Max for Operation Comfort

Thought I would share what it's like to travel with Max on the road for the week since it was a lot of fun and we met a lot of people in the automotive and TV industries...

Our schedule was tight but luckily we only had one canceled flight and through quick action on Max's part we were re-booked without any layovers...

    Travel Schedule
    Sunday, October 10th, 2010
Left West Palm Beach Airport at Noon traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, then catch a puddle jumper to Evansville, Indiana.

    Tuesday, October 12th, 2010
Left Evansville, Indiana and traveled to Memphis, Tennessee, caught a jet to San Antonio, Texas

    Friday, October 15th, 2010
Left San Antonio, Texas and traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, then caught a jet back to West Palm Beach, Florida. Arrived back home late Friday night...

Besides meeting and working with a great team of people at Operation Comfort we had blast flying into different 5 different cities, 6 different jets and 2 Hotels, the Marriott in Evansville and they Hyatt at the Riverwalk in San Antonio.

We had dinner almost every night with the different people we met, including a great steak dinner at Cavanaugh's in the Casino Aztar in Evansville, Indiana and Flemings in San Antonio, Texas.

One night we ventured down to the Riverwalk area in San Antonio where there's almost an underground city and nightlife along the sides of the river that flows through town. We had a great time and made a lot of new friends that night...

While we were gone we met and/or had meetings with the following people in both the automotive industry as well as television.

    Jim Grundy

When we first arrived to our hotel in Evansville, Indiana we met Jim Grundy, the President and Owner of Grundy Worldwide. You can learn more about Jim Grundy here.

    Jim Grundy

    Jorgen Mollor

Next we met Jorgen Mollor, the CEO of SnapLock Industries who are the industry leaders in modular surfaces such as sports court surfaces, garage flooring, dance floors, event floors, safety matting and decking as well as portable flooring.

    Michael L. Prelec
Michael Prelec is the President of Battery Tender, the leading manufacture of high quality batter chargers. Deltran Battery Tender battery chargers are battery chargers that fully charge a battery then automatically switch to a maintenance mode when the charge is complete.

    Keith Maney
Keith Maney, director of special projects at YearOne.com. Keith is in charge of all the special projects undertaken through Year One as well as the Editor for all their web copy.

    Frank McGonagle

Frank is currently the President of Brenton TV Productions.

Who can forget the early '70s Fram oil filter TV commercial with the tagline:

"Pay Me Now, or Pay Me Later."

The idea was that if you spend a little bit of money on maintenance now, you might save a huge amount of money (like replacing an entire engine) later. The man behind one of the aftermarket's most successful ad campaigns was McGonagle. As the former head of marketing for Fram, McGonagle went on to start Brenton Productions a company that produces Two Guys Garage and Truck U shows on SPEED cable TV network.

Frank is the can be seen here talking with one of the members of Operation Comfort.

    John Passante

John is the Executive Vice President of Brenton Productions. Previously John held the position of Senior Vice President for CARQUEST.

    Bruno Massel

Bruno Massel is the co-host of Truck U with Matt Steele as well as the the owner and driver of his own race car and team, Bruno Massel Racing. You can get more information about Bruno here, BrunoMasselRacing.com

I had a chance to talk cars, engines and boats with Bruno and he's a total hardcore "Car Guy", just like you see on TV...

    Jeff Abbott
Jeff Abbott is the Lead Design Engineer for Painless Performance Products and he was helping to dial-in the engine for the Weapons Carrier for Operation Comfort. You can see Jeff in the picture below just left of Bruno Massel.

    Janis Roznowski
Janis is the President and Founder of Operation Comfort, you can see Janis talking with Max in the picture below, behind here is her Administrative Assistant, Margo Perez.

On Thursday I attended a GTG at Anthony Orosco and Ron Harris's Concours Auto Salon and that was a lot of fun finally meeting people I've been talking or rather typing to in the forum world for years...

GTG in San Antonio, Texas Thursday, October 14th at the Concours Auto Salon

One event included make-up with a Make-up Professional, Max was able to skip this part...

Was able to work on some pretty cool cars... like this 1964 GTO Convertible...

And a classic, 1957 Chevy Pickup...

    It was a total blast!
Traveling with Max is a first class experience and while we had great time and met a lot of high caliber people it felt good to be back home. I spent most of Saturday sifting through all the pictures to create a thread on our class for Operation Comfort.

    Well... back to work...

Very nice pictorial. Even though it was a whirlwind week I'm sure you enjoyed it. The Riverwalk in San Antonio must be experienced to be believed. Nice piece, thanks.
