Re: My car was hit at the mall...can you figure this one out?

It was written up as a hit and run so no one was at fault...and if I really did cause all this to happen, I definitely wouldn't be posting about it! lol

Don't be surprised if your insurance company is forced to pay the bill on your car, the Acura & the Explorer (and charge you your deductible). Also, just because there's no visable damage to the rear of your car, make sure your Adjuster/Appraiser allows for the complete assembly to be removed for inspection. What body shop are you taking it to?

I haven't really thought about that yet. There's a local shop here in Stuart that has done work on some of my friend's cars, and they've all been very pleased, so I was considering going to them. I'm going to wait a little bit though, to see what happens with insurance.

I really think if you had pissed someone off bad enough that they would try something like that you would know about it. Maybe an atempted car theft gone wrong might be a more believeable. Anyway it's good to here your car seems to have minor damage, I hope nothing major shows up under futher inspection. Good luck.

That may make more sense. They may have tried to tow it from the rear (another reason why it submarined under the red car). They may just did not have enough time and enough room to do it fast enough. If they lift from rear, this will negate the e-brake and leaving it in gear so it could roll.

If they have security cameras, they may be able to see if there were any tow trucks in the area even if they were not monitoring the specific area.

If they tried to tow it from the rear, how would that explain the car being pushed 25 feet into 2 other cars?

Re: My car was hit at the mall...can you figure this one out?

Unless their's evidence of attempted theft (forced entry), I'd believe otherwise. Because the rear bumper cover is so large on these cars, they have a tendancy of absorbing alot of impact. Just because it's doens't appear damaged doesn't mean the rebar, rear body panel and/or floor isn't? That's why I think it was pushed/hit from behind and dragged for several feet. Not just a little tap did this. Plus, your car went under the Acura most likey when it made contact with the Explorer.

Re: My car was hit at the mall...can you figure this one out?

I almost wonder if some elderly person did the "hit the gas rather than brake trick" while parking or leaving. Then when seeing there wasn't "any" damage (car could be totaled and some elderlys would think it wasn't scratched) to theirs or yours they left. Definetly haven't seen this one before.
