I finally purchased infrared thermometer today! Next on the list is Sun Gun or Infratech!

Ooooo, Sun Gun!!! Supposedly there is a better Brinkman than the Dual Xenon and it's available at Wally World.

Re: New toys are on the way ...

I take it that it's marketed to the person working outside in direct sunlight? Prior to prep meaning buffing or the initial prep (wash) itself? What are the acceptable heat ranges when using one? I imagine you could measure the paint when doing correction as long as you know the max heat range paint it's able to be pushed to? Probably around 165 degrees like a normal paint booth?

Are you talking about thermometer or Sun Gun / Infratech? If you are talking thermometer slightly under $50 (and free shipping ) It is infrared one, measures heat surface emits without contact. Has a laser pointer in it so you know where you are aiming. Went with this model and not more advanced one because I wanted to be able to easily tuck it away in back pocket while I am working.

For me it is to measure the temperature of the paint while working with it.

That (max range) is what I will find out, but you are correct, purpose of getting it is to keep me on the safe side.
