Re: Autopia Traffic!!! Wow!!!

I for one am awfully thankful to the experts that use their valuable time here, to give us their take on the actual, rather than marketed, quality of various products and methodologies. At the end of the day, if you ask a question, you will get an answer, or even many, but its your car and your cash.

Sometimes its difficult to give advise on products on a non-open forum, as I would prefer to give a complete answer i.e. methodology and product (one that I've actually used and found to give the results expected there are some products that work far better than others (i.e. Menz but it is sold by AG so its not a problem) although I will add that AG does seem to stock the better new products- System One for instance

As for other detailing forums they all have their good and bad points, posters that provide unbiased information, and some who will post to boost their ego more than genuine information, etc but AG maintains a friendly (and usually) non-confrontational stance

Re: Autopia Traffic!!! Wow!!!

I think it all depends on one thing.

Are you looking for friends on the internet or quality information from professionals?

Flames and biased opinions are everywhere, ignore it. There is a wealth of information to learn from on Autopia. It has been called the detailing Wikipedia.

AG is more touchy feely than Autopia - Autopia cannot be discounted - It is a great source of information and I can honestly say people do offer opinions or help...

People extending themself to offer help on autopia is not based on being in the clique which I find refreshing.

Re: Autopia Traffic!!! Wow!!!

While Autopia is huge, there is a certain friendliness about AutoGeek's site....hard to put into words, except you feel "comforable" hanging around here.

And, I've seen as well as posted threads about products that don't/didn't exist in AutoGeek's inventory: System One for example. I think a company like AG looks for products that could be a good "fit" for them to distribute.

And, to be sure, there are spirited discussions about products (similar to Oba-Clinton vs. Hucka-Cain...but let's not EVER go there). But sometimes good comes out of these discussions: the company owner jumps in with information and knowledge.

All-in-all a very fun place to visit and an evening doesn't go by without an ethernet cruise to AutoGeek.

Toto

Re: Autopia Traffic!!! Wow!!!

There are multi-levels of discussion and obviously everyone no matter of their background can post anything. For a newbie asking a naive or simplistic question can be like a crap shoot.

I heard a comment by someone that also applies to some people on the forums.

You can ask some people what time is it and they will tell you how to build a watch. The first step to removing some scratches does not necessarily mean investing in hundreds of dollars of products.

Totally agree with you on that. I also think that its exaggerated how some say there is a lot of bickering and drama there. Most of the time there isn't, and when there is, it can be quite entertaining .

I also agree with Tom regarding the attitude of some of their Members. Absolute retards some of them, I'd rather a Forum with 10 AG members then 10,000 Autopia members.

AG rocks.
