What sub and amp set up works best

ok guys ive got a Nissan sentra and want to upgrade the audio in it. Its the SE-R so it already has the 7 speaker Rockford fasgate system but its not living up to its name the door and panel speakers are loud and clear but the bass just isn’t there.

What’s the best set up for sub and amp? i was thinking a single 12 or 15 sub, because the sentra is a small car. i don’t want to go overboard and spend butt load of money.


what is your sub and amp set up? would you recommend it? what’s the + or - of the system overall?

10w7 JL Audio with 500-1000 adjustable watts continous.

Same setup I have and it rocks! This is the best setup I've ever had and loudest I've ever heard.

Eclipse CD 8061 with balance out (look this one up on the net)
2 sets of MB Quart 6 1/2" Componets - pushed by Xtant 604x
1 JL 10W7 (JL Wedge Enclosure) - pushed by Xtant x1001

from the sounds of what you currently have it seems you want to be "thumpin" in which case ehuth1's suggestion of 10w7 JL Audio with 500-1000 adjustable watts will rocvk you.

How do I know you may ask? Well I had that set up in my Civic with the 500w continous JL amp (when I was a bit younger...lol) and I it was THUMPZILLA!!! It blew away others double 12" with 100W of various brands including RF and Sony (2 that I remember off hand).

When I would put the back seats daown the sub would move so much air that I would constantly have to "unplug" me ears due to the pressure in the cabin, like when you fly in an airplane.

Try Elemental Designs and Dayton Audio for a really smooth sound with plenty of ability to drop bottom.

A 13kv.2 with a Nine.2X amp would blow *ANYTHING* available at BB or CC out of the water. And it's much cheaper than a W7, even though the W7's are nice.

I agree. Elemental and Dayton are good stuff. Diamond audio has some decent high end stuff as well.

Oz Audio subs are my cup of tea, Elemental Design subs are great as well.

I personally would stick with JL Audio. Made in USA, and heart of most high end installs. Xtant use to be hot until purchased by MTX. Diamond Audio was also considered high end but heard they were purchased/changed by another lower end company.

With a 12 or 15 you will be rattle city in that small car which you claim is already rattling (atleast you won't hear the road noise). Also, without upgrading the deck, speakers, wire, and interconnects just throwing a sub in there will be too overpowering. I would stick with a 10 (or pair of 10's depending on what music you listen too) and use the money saved to get a nice set of component speakers to compliment it.

I think your first step should be to isolate the rattles and tear out the interior to dynomat. It will greatly improve the sound. Also an alarm to protect it all

Everything you want can be purchased at Crutchfield. I personally favor pioneer and kenwood, but I have been out of car audio for a long time.
