| | New car purchase under $22k... Not that I'm purchasing nor planning to purchase, but just want to hear some opinions. If you were to buy a new car under $22k (a car, not a truck, nor SUV, and please don't consider xB , Surfer's favorite SUV), what most important features/specs are you looking in a car? Safety, reliability, resale value? Fuel economy?
In other words, what would you buy...
I lean toward safety, and probably would get VW Jetta...4* front collision, 5 star side collision...not the best fule economy though, but 20-25 MPG average is good enough for me...
What would you buy?

| | LOL surfer's favorite "SUV".
Hands down I'd get the Honda Civic Si. I'm looking for reliability, nice power (yeah it's a 4 cylinder but it's a lot of power for the size and for it being non turbo ), imo good looks, and bang for the buck. I've been a fan of the 2006+ for some reason. At first I didn't like em, but now I do. I have driven one, and it's a nice ride, the gear box and clutch are easy. |

| | I think the mazdaspeed 3 starts at around 22,000. Its the first wagon I have ever considered buying. Mazdas have decent resale value, and they are safe. The speed3 is very fast, it has a 260ish turbocharged 4cyl. And you will have plenty of room for detailing supplies. It looks sharp too. |

Also you can basiclly assume that the car has been raced...alot! Many evo owners do not modify them correctly, and turn their cars into ticking time bombs. I love my EVO, but I would never buy a used one. |

| | | as soon as i saw the thread title i said new VW GTI and then you picked the jetta, and i see a few other vw remarks in here too.... so i think it obviously has to be a vdub!
the gti's and gli's are an incredible value all around. i know vw priced them very low so they are just about breaking even when they sell those cars. |
