Re: Autogeek Exclusive - 20 cc Optimum Gloss Coat!
Bummer..... just got an order for 2 - 10 cc gloss coats for $120.00 this week.
Just my luck. Could have saved 30.00 to buy more AG stuff.

That's surprising! From my understanding you need to ensure an ample amount of product is applied for the coating to last the claimed 2 years. Vega over at Autopiaforums.com used an entire syringe (10 cc) to coat his Mercury Sable.

Hi Nick - even Dr G say that you can coat 2 cars with 10cc. The product is thinner than the pro version. Believe me, I put a thick coat on the van.

The applicator can make so much difference to how much product you use--I like the Anthony Orosco blue towel method.

What technique are you using to put it on "Thick"?

This is only a guess to answer your question (I have not used gloss coat) but I see a lot of people in the show and shine's and reviews using the carpro block and the 4x4 carpro suede applicators to ensure even coverage. What these detailers mean by applying "thick" I do not really understand either as I would think ensuring an even coating all around would be more important then wasting more product than necessary. For those that have used gloss coat, if you could clarify that would be awesome.

What's the cure time on this before it can get wet?

It means applying more than is suggested. When I apply coatings I like to see a true trail of 'wetness' coming from my applicator. I really need to make some videos of gloss coat application. Any interest out there? Have a few appointments scheduled...

I'd definitely be interested in a video Mark. I just joined up with Optimum as a pro installer, but will be offering GC as well and I'm currently trying to absorb as much info as possible in regards to application of both products.
Looking forward to seeing it if you go forward with doing one.
