Surf City Wash & Wax and Beyond Black Tire Pro

Just wanted to offer some quick thoughts on these two SCG products, both were a free gift from AG (thanks!):

Pacific Blue Wash & Wax: I don't usually use one-step products but this one has been very impressive, and handy. It's highly concentrated so a bottle lasts a long time. It's not quite as slick as Gold Class, but it leaves a thin layer of wax behind, so there isn't as much of a rush to rinse. Drying takes a little extra effort - the residual wax is a little tacky at first - but it quickly cures to a nice shiny finish. Great way to touch up an existing coat of wax without much effort.

Beyond Black Tire Pro: I'm not exactly the target audience for BBTP. It's a very conservative tire-black, where I prefer an all-out glossy tire bling-fest. That said, BBTP does exactly what it states - it leaves your tires looking black for weeks. Insane durability, it lasts for several weeks and takes effort to scrub it off. The finished appearance is like a thin cellophane wrap - not glossy or sticky looking, but reserved and clean. I suspect it's targeted for classic car owners (if SCG itself is any indication..), but if you don't like the run-of-the-mill tire bling available at every Auto Zone, this is the product for you.

The only thing I don't like about BB is the application. It's a very thin and concentrated blue liquid, so it leaps out of the bottle and is soaked up by applicators. This makes it too easy to over-apply, leaving blue stuff clinging to the ridges of the tires. It takes some buffing to achieve a finished look. So it is probably better applied thinly with a pressure sprayer. Good news is, 8oz. will last a long, long time....

the blue coloring is wierd, especially if you spray directly on tires and see a little pool of smurf pee-pee. I do like the initial look, and it doesnt gain alot of dirt and dust, but does seem to look lighter or faded rather quickly. I find a second application is usually needed.

Because the BBTP is thin, its so easy to put it on tires. A little goes a long way too. Its my all time favorite tire detailer.
