Re: Optimum Instant Detailer & Gloss Enhancer

Was looking for a new QD after almost out of Meg UQD. With intentions of trying OID I read this thread and was mainly concerned because I also use P21S 100%. But after so many positives and few negatives I gave it a try for myself.

I got the self-deluting size. I have to say that it worked great. Easy on and easy off. Just as easy as the Meg. and overall I like the slick surface after the fact better. The megs maybe feels a little "slicker/thicker" to the touch but the OID left a very nice feeling and looking surface.

Definitely glad I have it and will surely use it a lot.

I don't usually jump onto new products; I always wait for the hype to calm down.

I got a quart when OID first came out; diluted it 3:1 accordingly and LOVE IT. Works perfectly even in full sun for me.

Works great on 'nubas and sealants. Has worked well over Natty's Blue; Red; and Pinn. Sig. and Souveran with no issues at all.

Really adds to the look as well; especially on brighter solid colors (red and even white).

Re: Optimum Instant Detailer & Gloss Enhancer

You know I had the same problem (streaking) over blue nattys. I switched to FK425 and what a difference, my paint (Ford Focus pitch black) looks sharper plus way less dusting (IMO)...I no longer use Optimum QD, don't take me wrong great product just not for me...

Yeah, I see what you guys mean. I had no streaking until I used it on top of a coat of Collinite 915 and it streaked a little bit. Guess it doesn't play well with some nubas.

Re: Optimum Instant Detailer & Gloss Enhancer

I just received my recent order which included OPT QD. (I ordered the 32 oz. For the price per gallon its hard to beat). I used it on my silver Yaris and it worked extremely well. I have most of the major QDs and this one ranks at the top. I have yet to try 425 though.

Re: Optimum Instant Detailer & Gloss Enhancer

Try using a 3:1 ratio of OID and OCW on those finishes which streak.....or mix in some ONR with your OID (all 3 products are cross compatible) with about the same ratio and see how that works for you.

I use OID as I give cars a ONR wash. Either before I NR a panel or after I NR a panel I'll spray that panel down with some OID and then continue as usual. Adds slickness, gloss and ease of use.

Happy detailing,
Anthony

Anthony, would that be 3:1 of straight OID:OCW and 3:1 of straight OID:ONR, no water added?

And I assume you mean Optimum Car Wash, not Car Wax, when you say OCW, correct?

Re: Optimum Instant Detailer & Gloss Enhancer

I mixed the 3:1 with a diluted OID and yes I meant the car wax, not the car wash.

Mix some OID with your car wax and you'll get a wonderful QD with enhanced UV protection. Also you can mix as you like or see fit. My ratio is based on my personal preference.

Anthony
