Just joined of course, I have some mods to my 03 stang converible but now I need it to look better. I have has some light experience and have a orbital machine. To make a long story short I needed a machine due to the fact that I am on disability due to an accident resulting in too many nerve, heart problems as well.
I need some help from all. Please take a look at my picture and tell me if I have a Ok shine or a not so Ok shine and what I need to do. Right now it has two coats/layered quality wax job. To my eyes it seems to have a ok shine that you can see yourself in but it seems like it needs more. Maybe part of it is the color - SatinSilverMetallic. I'm not sure. I looked at the forums and what I may need is a Clay Job? Please respond with your best suggestions. In the near future it's getting some 4.10 and Trak-Lok upgrades. Oh, I use a spray on tire shine but would like to know what the best product is - like quality and long lasting stuff etc...

we have several mustang owners here, and they will help with mods also. Wystang and Totoland Mach are a few.

As for your car, its not just products but also what and how you prep the finish. Think wash --- clay --- polish -- protect. With silver metallic, you'll love Four Star UPP (sealant) or Pinnacle Sig Series II (wax) when all is done.

I think I have the right idea. Lucky for me my wife can help with the Clay part and she likes to help take care of the cars. I have a very cool wife. We have never used the Clay and to be honest this forum was the first time I have heard of it. A few years ago I bought a tape from a program on Speed and was working a little off that but it didn't mention Clay. The products you mention are new to my ears as well.
Is a Orbital waxer like I have good? It seems to work well. I was so concerned with swirl marks I went with a Orbital.
Your ride looks like it has a few more coats than stock of laquer, Or is it the detail job? I've had black cars and harleys. Cars I couldn't handle anymore but my bikes were not as bad. Sold my last Heritage Softail Classic to my brother. I couldn't ride any more. I bought a convertible because I wanted the wind and open feeling. I was right, it's very nice and you can see more as well. I can't wait to see the results of the detail job after doing it right. My wifes car is the same color and if we start early we can keep hers looking good for a long time as well. Both are kept in the garage.

As Killr say, clay, polish, protect.

As it is a silver metalic i find they get pretty glossy after a good paint cleaner too (i love the DG 101), as a LastStepProduct ive used the Pinnacle Liquid Souveran on silver with good result.

Wolfgang black diamond tire gel looks great on the tires, its not too glossy and lasts.

Wow! thank you, I'm taking some good notes here so far. By the way, is your Evolution by Mitsubishi? That car has some nice power and torque. We have a Mustang convertible and a Pontiac Vibe. This Vibe that my wife drives is pretty peppy for a four banger. It actually has a Toyota engine/drive train. We liked the pontiac body and interior better than the Toyota and the price was good. clay --- taking a lubricant and spraying each panel prior to cupping the clay in palm and allowing it to slide across the finish in straight lines. Areas that studder or grab, are areas in which to move over again and again until smooth. Never grind clay into finish.

buffer --- move up to a PC7424 or UDM random orbital (Cyclo works too) those big headed ones from Sears arent even successful at wax removal by most accounts.

The Vette has standard paint, and 10,000 miles of highway abuse . It is the ability to properly clean, polish, and protect it that makes it look much better. I wont lie, its hard work but even my grey truck has some fabulous reflection.
