Just a quick hello. I've been a member of the MEGs forum for a short while, learned a lot from that one but noted that Mike Phillips decided to move to Autogeek and if it's good enough for Mike, it must be good enough for me!
After 12 years of leasing cars and not having had to worry about them much (as in just run'em through the swirl-o-matic when it got hard to see out the windows), I've purchased a 2009 Sonata in a Blue Slate color.... it's REALLY gonna be hard to keep it looking good compared to my last 3 Silver colored cars. The weather here isn't going to be helping much either, 11 1/2 months of winter and 2 weeks of bad sledding is pretty much the norm, so it's a frantic detailing pace until Septemberl and then it's time to slather on the wax/sealant thick enough to last until April/May of the next year.... At -40, even ONR will freeze on contact so about the only practical washing is either at the wand wash or more likely the touchless wash with it's blow dry feature to get some of the salt/grit off whenever there's a rare warm day that won't instantly freeze the doors shut as soon as you pull out of the carwash. Even then I usually open the doors and close them on the first click so that there's air between the seals and the door frame for a half hour or so and by then the water has frozen and evaporated so the gaskets don't stick when I close the doors fully.
So.... I'll be reading the posts and making full use of the search function for a while........ if I'm stumped, I'll feel free to post a question. Until then, keep your polishing pad on the paint!
