It seems common practice to add 2 dollars for just rain-x or tire dressing. I understand it and agree with it. I also feel like SUVs or trucks should cost a bit more, its so bothersome to deal with ladders and everything and I am not to short at 6 feet.

I like the basic 10 dollar wash. thats something anyone and everyone will want and pay for. With an ONR wash with will leave a glossy just waxed look and I think people will come back and want to spend a more. for 10 dollars i use those basic costco type mf towels(big lots has them 24 for 10 dollars), for the premium i use yellow chemical guys plush towels.

    This is for Mobile?!?!?!

    Re: Flyer and mobile insurance

Well..... Im in TN which is a much lower cost of living then that of Cali...... my most basic package starts at $25, and most people love that price. For my Fleets...... my most inexpensive Fleet is 20$ a car..... and I have at the very least 20 cars a month at that price with that one fleet..... takes about 1.5 days. What I am saying is that you can charge much more if you do a good job man. I know a guy out here that does dealership lots and cleans each car for 1.25 a car!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1.25 a car!!!!!! but all he does is rinse and dry them with a crew. To me that is ridiculous when it comes to risk and legalities of running a business (affording labor costs). You can charge much higher than that....... if you choose.

I agree with B&B. I'm in Alabama and my minumum is $20 for fleet and repoed auction cars. I do have one regular customer with a smart car and its still $20 for the basic in and out otherwise I still get $25 and up for the basic in and out job.

Don't try to be competitive with cheap pricing. You won't make much if any money and you'll attract the wrong type of customers. RainX for me is $10/car for all the windows. A miata would be less ofcourse while an Expedition might be a little more. Express wax is $15 to $25 depending on car size again and only on good paint.

    Don't sell yourself to cheap.

Real important to identify your target market. Insurance has gone up for us all. You cannot in good faith ignore the fundamentals of business 101. Protect yourself and your business. It is tempting to keep prices super low, but again you become stereotyped.

I have to disagree with putting a flyer on someone's car though. That is something I never liked for anyone to do to me and I have chosen never to do it to anyone else. Flyers are useful when used in the right manner.

I'm in Central Coast Cali and the most inexpensive wash I do is $40 day in and day out. Currently I have a promo going for $10.00 off during the month of March. They are paying it. Then again I tend to exceed expectations. For fleet you may want to do estimates as you could end up doing a fleet of 10 suburbans for 30 bucks inside and out and end up feeling like a woman of the night at the end of the day. BTW my business is completely mobile. You should join the social group "Let's help each other succeed."

If someone just want a wash i would charge at least 25. It all depends what kind of service you provide, that what set you apart from others.

If other are charging 15ish for car wash, are you going be doing the same job as them or will provide better service? If your going go above and beyond i'm sure you can get more.

Oh yeah and it all depends where you live.
detailing can be rewarding if you apply yourself correctly.
1st learn how to be a good business person first
2nd learn how to be a good detailer second
put god in your life everything else will fall into place

I'll probably get some type of 'award' for bringing an old thread back to life but what the heck. Like someone previously stated, THIS IS WAAAAAAAAAAAY TOO MUCH INFO. Your price-points are entirely too close to one another. Offer more price difference as this allows folks to upgrade. I also do an 'ALA CARTE' menu. Headlights, engine, et al.

Offer like 3 or 4 different packages MAX. All you're doign is confusing the heck out of folks. Approach it from 'What the client would want' and you'll be fine. Make it reasonable, (you've got this part down pat), and do a great job going above expectations. I ALWAYS....Under-promise AND Over-deliver. It's done me fine so far.

I start at $20 for a exterior wash n wax. I can bust these out all day long. Easily 8-15 cars depending on the weather. My clients love it and I offer a 'Buy 3 Get 1 FREE'. I did that and business exploded. Who doesn't love FREE?

I hope you're doing great by now and have learned like the rest of us. Life's a journey. If someone just gave you all the answers life would be boring. Go make mistakes and learn from them.
