Setting aside dilution ratios for the moment:
Q.1
Is there any "rinsing" involved when I perform either
a Rinseless-Wash (RW), or a Waterless-Wash (WW)?
A: No
Q.2:
a) Is there anyone who still actually performs a true RW/WW?
b) Or, rather: a host of RW/WW variations...(so-called "hybrid-washes").
A: (2a) Probably Not; (2b) Probably Yes
What's in a name?
•Meguiar's happened to name D114:
"Rinse Free Express Wash";
and, D115:
"Rinse Free Express Wash & Wax"
•As such; and, since I personally do not rinse whenever I use RW/WW products:
-I tend to focus specifically on the "Express Wash", and "Express Wash & Wax" wording, in D114's/D115's names-on-the-label.

Re: Which waterless wash?
Is there any tips to prevent marring/scratching while using rinseless/waterless wash besides using a premium microfiber towel?

Re: Which waterless wash?
Really surprised ONR isn't mentioned more here. Btw...like some have mentioned WW is almost entirely made up of....WATER. marring WILL occur with these waterless washes. ONR ###....research the ####, its legit and there is a reason the top dawgs on the world are using it.

IMO:
Your analogy doesn't hold water.
Using your analogy, then:
Wouldn't Rinseless-Washes, that contain even more water/are diluted even more than Waterless-Washes...also cause marring---way more marring?!?!

Re: Which waterless wash?
Not ONR! I know from experience. This picture here was taken 6 months after I corrected/Opticoated my car. I use only ONR on it, and have done so probably 7-8 times now. Still crystal clear and no signs or marring or swirling. Presoaked, let dwell a few seconds, and go to town lightly with ONR. One bucket with grit guard, and roatate a few towels around. No rinse bucket, as this could dilute the ONR away from the recommended 256:1 ratio. This is how the epxerts and pros directly from Optimum recommend to use it.
I understand theres more than one way to do things, but this is my go-to. Also, if you have ONR left after your wash...you can store it int he bucket for use a week, month, etc later...I also imagine you could use ONR with the Garry Dean method, but the reps from OPT say this is 100% unnecessary and overkill. Surprisingly...

Re: Which waterless wash?
@The Enforcer
So...going back to your original analogy;
and using proper techniques...
Are you saying that:
ONR @256:1 = RW = no marring will occur
But...
ONR @16:1 = WW = marring will occur
