Just my 2 cents on trying to keep it budget friendly for OP, since he mentioned it'd be a +
How about this, and the Megs trio?

    I love that car!

    I'd buy it.😉
Plus you get Mike Phillips' book for free. Read that before you get started and you'll put your newfound knowledge to work on your car. It's a win.👍🏽

There have been some good kits posted. The other option is to call Nick or someone at Autogeek and see where they point you. They can get you situated with a kit that suits your needs. You are going to get a lot of recommendations based on each persons brand loyalty.

Re: I'm so confused! New guy needs help with polisher supplies.

I think I am going to let this ride out the weekend and see what happens and research some more and then just buy something. I did 20 years in the Marine Corps and to tell you the truth I have read manuals and attended classes from everything from weapon systems to defusing bombs to you name it and I learned more by getting out there and applying it hands on so I am going to pick a kit and make it work! I just wanted to thank everyone who took the time to help me out with their suggestions and recommendations. Semper Fi Don

Glad to help, Don. Or at least try to. Take some solace in knowing we have all been where you are. And, yes, hands on has been my approach too over the years and somehow it all comes together.

Finally, thank you for your service, my friend.

    [QUOTE=dlc95;1368040]I'd pick this up

Porter Cable 5.5 x 7/8 Inch CCS Foam Pad Kit, buffing pads, foam pads, Porter Cable dual action polisher

Then Megs Ultimate Compound, Polish, and Wax.[/QUOT

Simplest answer to the man's simplest question. And I agree 100%.

This is what I started with, and the correction was completely acceptable, if not beyond my expectations for the first time.

As you learn, you will find your preference for different needs in compound, polish, wax, or AOI, etc., etc.,

I know any question on this site ends with everyone giving their favorite combos, and that is what is great about this place, but sometimes it creates even more confusion to the OP.

dlc95 and I are in agreement. Try this simple combo, see how it works for you the first time, then go from there.

Either way, you'll become a AG junkie like the rest of us..............

    Thanks!

I always go back to the Ultimate Trio. Luckily I'm almost never in a body shop, where I wouldn't be able to use them.

They should have put it in the detailer line.

ScratchX, SwirlX, and NXT would have been fine for the consumer line.

Re: I'm so confused! New guy needs help with polisher supplies.

Alright gang I went ahead and ordered a Porter Cable 7424XP & 3D HD Flawless Finish Kit, and a couple extra pads on Wednesday and it will be here sometime today!!! I have my supplies all laid out i.e. buckets, grit guards, clay and lube, MF towels, waffle towels, and even a spot for cold beer! Now if the North Carolina weather cooperates with me I will be able to make my Camaro look like liquid glass. Wish me luck.

Again thanks for all your suggestions and direction pointing me in the right direction. Don
