CCS Spot Buffs 4 Inch Foam Pad Kit?
do people recommend getting the 4" kit from autogeek for working on smaller areas with the Flex? It comes with a 2 3/4" backing plate....
I was thinking I could use the 4" pads for the side mirrors and other smaller areas on a car.
Any thoughts?

I am thinking like you buy 4" kit, it is necessary to working in a smaller areas, side mirrors, bumpers, pillars. It's a detailling tool would not lack in our arsenal.

I don't believe this will work with the 3401 with its proprietary backing plate, but it should work with either of the rotaries.

From reading a lot on AGO, it seems that the pad recommendation for 4" pads on the Flex 3401 are the LC HYBRID pads over the CCS pads and the LC 4" interchangeable backing plate system. I can't locate the link but I seem to recall that the AG classes often set them up this way for introductory teaching.
I don't have direct experience (yet), but I will soon as mine arrives this weekend

Re: CCS Spot Buffs 4 Inch Foam Pad Kit?
If you talking about this kit CCS Spot Buff Kit, it will work with either you PC, Electric Drill, or a Flex Rotary. It has a rotary style backing plate, an adapter for rotary to drill, and a second adapter from rotary to DA. It will not work with the Flex 3401.
If you want to use 4" pads with the Flex 3401, you will need the Lake Country Interchangeable Backing Plate Kit and a selection of 4" pads.

Thank you for clarifying it for me. I thought it was a little weird when I was looking at the pictures as well.

Has anyone used the Lake Country Backing Plate with the Flex 3401 without any problems? The reviews have suggested that it gets hot and then ends up cracking....

Re: CCS Spot Buffs 4 Inch Foam Pad Kit?
I'm thinking from what I read that I need to purchase a separate machine such as the griot's to do smaller areas versus getting a smaller backing plate for the flex.
Sorry for all the questions but trying to make sure I do this right

I run LC's interchangeable backing plate system without any hiccups thus far. I use my PC for my 3.5" spot areas.
