I need to know what should i top up the WGDG sealant 3.0 with for the depth?
My car is Graphite Grey in colour...... i've polished it with Meguiar's #205 and coated with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant 3.0. Please tell me according to ur experiance that what should i top it up with? I know it is already deep wet looking shine, but is there anything which might amplify the looks? for example...Meguiar's Gold class Carnuaba plus or DODO purple haze or somehing?

All right guys - used this wax for the first time the other day and I must say that it is by far the hardest product to take off after hazing from my experience! Does this mean that it is that hardcore at protecting?!?!? I applied thin coats as mentioned and MAN I couldn't do too much of a section out of fear of it not coming off lol. Is the protection worth it to you guys?!?!?!? If it protects like it says it does it may very well be worth the hassle - BUT does it protect for an amazing amount of time?

Paint thickness question on upcoming job

Ok well I have landed a pretty large job for myself and have a question about paint thickness. It is a custom vehicle that was completely resprayed after completion(2007). It was painted in a factory blue(Viper GTS Blue), but there is no telling if it was painted using factory paint or a custom blend. This is a 100k+ vehicle with quite a bit of history and I absolutely want to be sure of a few things before I get to work Friday morning.

The question is....
Considering there is no way of knowing what paint, and how thick it was laid. Anything I need to take into considering?

I plan on masking off all of the top edges and corners, then going back and buffing those by hand. Only polishing out the flat panels. Lucky for me, there are very few edges to worry about. I will more than likely start with some 105 and a wool pad on a rotary...JK!!! Ok I will probably test out the worst area starting with a LC Gray pad and 205. It was detailed last year, but has been outside since then. There are some scratches and other blemishes, but the main thing is the new owner knows this and accepts them. However the shop doing some work on it wants it to look it's absolute best before getting put in a container and shipped across the ocean.

Discuss...

FWIW I know I did not include much information about the vehicle and that is intentional to protect the current and future owner. If you have any valid advice and need more specifics we can discuss details over PM's

I wanted to post the "final" pics of the garage with the storage bins back in place (some have been moved now) and with the lighting in place, etc. Ken had mentioned about the FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic). Ironically enough, a friend of mine who owns a restaurant was just telling me about the very same stuff a week before. I heard it enough times to realize they are right. I picked up a 4 X 8 sheet in Detroit at Home Depot for $25. I installed it behind my recycle boxes to protect the wall from the stuff that gets tossed in there from the door. The other thing is that once I had installed it, I sprayed it with Permanon from my spray gun and wiped it down. That made it even slicker than it already was and will make wiping up any stains on it easier I would think. I have hung all but my Wheel Woolies on it and when I get them, they will have their place on there too. Here are the shots from the garage this afternoon. BTW, I gave the floor a quick mop with ONR in a bucket of water again. This is a great use for ONR and cleans the floor without making it too slippery and of course no soap residue either.

You can see 2 of my CFL's on the ceiling. They're 12" long with a 4" diameter. 6500 colour temp if I recall. It hurts your eyes to look at them. I call them "Being before God" as they show every fault in the paint! I have 2 more on the other end that show when the door is down.

My air compressor and side lighting:

My folding table that I use for vacuuming mats. Beats breaking your back bending over doing them on the ground!!

Vacuum hose and Gaia steamer hose hanging spots. Also, the roots bag has just drying mf's in it and the light brown one has all my vacuum attachments in it.

I stole this idea for spray bottles from someone on DB a few years ago. Love it!

"Say hello to my little friend!" This portable air conditioner is by far the thing I could not live without in the extreme heat of the summer:

Image: http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t12/rhowitt/Detailing%20shots/DSC_0017-4.jpg

Big storage cabinet. I haven't even brought a lot of stuff up from the basement yet. Trying to keep it more simple and less cluttered. Time to get rid of some stuff too!
Next to it are 2 bins. Top for mf's and the bottom for terry towels and misc stuff like the garbage bags to cover wheels, etc.

My little cabinet:

The only thing missing is a banner. I plan to have one made with my company LOGO and put it up on the same wall as the FRP.

Just got my Flex PE14...

Pretty interesting putting it thru it's paces on my Z06. Pictures to come soon, but for now I'll give my perspective on this machine.

I have been using the DeWalt 849 for the last 8 years....it has seen a TON of use- buffing out hoods, cars, you name it. Never let me down. However, its very heavy and very easy to get out of balance. However, it's powerful and will easily handle whatever you throw at it.

The Flex...well right off the bat it's much smaller.....MUCH. Very easy to get in tight spots.

It's very balanced. You can easily use it with one hand and it seems to have plenty of power.. However Flex did not get it perfect in my opinion.

The soft start feature sucks, IMO. I've already had it "dead trigger" on me a couple times by pulling the trigger a couple times quickly in succession before the motor got up to speed. Might be a safety mech...not sure. But it is annoying.

The trigger/handle housing is way too thick..compared to the deWalt it's almost impossible to keep the trigger pulled down with out fatigue. For example, I ran the DeWalt for almost 4 hours last weekend and the only thing that grew weary was my left arm from supporting the weight. The Flex? I ran it for less than 20 minutes and my right hand was cramping.
Keep in mind I have big hands...real big. Guys with smaller hands are gonna have a time with the Flex.

Am I happy with the purchase? Absolutely. It's easier to maneuver and manipulate, and the balance and sheer quality makes it worth the money.

Just wish they had done a better job with the trigger and junked the soft start feature.
